I am looking at a Springfield Armory G.I. champion 1911 for my son to use, and I was wondering if the front sight can be removed (to put better sights on it). I don't own a 1911 yet, so go easy on me! NWAttorney

I've had that happen in a 30-30 when a re-load was not seated deep enough, making the round a little too long. It was more that I didn't want to force it into the grooves, and there was an obvious resistance. Were you shooting reloads?

My son is looking at a #1 mk. 3 Lee-Enfield and wants to know: "What kind of accuracy can I expect from it? sub-MOA is not expected, but I may want to reconsider if it is 4-5 MOA. out of a 90 year old rifle, I just don't know what to expect." Anybody out there who can answer his question...

Thanks. I'm doubting I'll every cross one, but just in case.. I do have a shotgun, and a .308. I think a 45-70 is perfect, with my son bringing the shotgun. Maybe we'll leave his .30 carbine at home.:)

I don't want to permanently convert my FAL. I would more likely get a SAIGA or SKS for a dedicated 7.62x39 gun. As to the bullet diameter, I know the .308 is .308 (or .309), and the 7.62.39 is .011 or .312. I was thinking about a "fast" swapping out of barrels and what ever else was needed...
