How to Load LSWC For 9mm

No need for "guessing". :) If you compare and transpose SWC shape over "stepped" RN, you will notice length, angle and flat tip width/meplat is same as RN profile with non-contact areas of RN added to the base to length it. So like loading "stepped" RN or 45ACP SWC, there should be about...

Lee Pro 6000 unboxing and testing for OAL consistency

Yes, I agree. That's been the finding from the myth busting "Neck tension and bullet setback" thread - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/myth-busting-neck-tension-and-bullet-setback.830072/page-4 I did sort cases by headstamp for the OAL variance test as different case wall...

Lee Pro 6000 unboxing and testing for OAL consistency

My issue with mixed 9x19 brass is with case wall thickness and neck retention, I can load 9x19 with True Blue and have a ES of 9 fps loading the same head stamp. That ES number goes up to 30 fps with mixed brass.

Lee Pro 6000 unboxing and testing for OAL consistency

But that was done "intentionally" to reflect "real world" reloading conditions most will use the press under. Initially, I did sort test cases by headstamp then resized case lengths by .750" only to go, "Silly me, when will I ever sort cases by resized length?" 😁 I do measure sample cases by...

    What Happened to this Brass?

Please, this is the "High Road" and let's not perpetuate incorrect information that's already been myth busted several times. Since Gen3, even the most common "perpetrator" of so called 40S&W "Glock bulge/Guppy belly" brass did not have characteristic Glock striker indents on primer cups when...

    Chamfering vs flaring/crimping for 9mm?

I was going to say “the thing I like most about your posts is” but there are too many things I like most. Thanks!

    Chamfering vs flaring/crimping for 9mm?

While I primarily use Lee dies, I do not use FCD for my usual reloading of different jacketed/plated/coated lead/lubed lead bullets of various semi-auto calibers and they all pass my various barrels including Lone Wolf 40S&W barrels which have tightest chambers I know. (With larger sized...

    SHORT CARTRIDGE CASE QUESTION?????

Based on .750" trim length, I am thinking OP is using 9mm. ;) When I did myth busting/confirming for 9mm OAL variance based on headstamp, measuring various headstamp "resized" case lengths measured .750" to be average median so I used .750" length cases for the myth busting -...

Myth Busting/Confirming - Mike Branson of Gideon Optics discuss "cheap" vs "expensive" optics and differences

Thanks to @Dave DeLaurant, Mike Branson of Gideon Optics (formerly of Primary Arms and Swampfox discuss differences between $400-$1500 optics from Primary Arms compared to $2800 Nightforce and busts commonly held notions/myths about cheap vs expensive optics and confirms some others...

What's up with the Lewiston brass?

What's up with the Lewiston brass?

Seems like several members have had not issues either? How about the thousands or more out there that have reloaded it in many other calibers. Have you notified Speer/CCI R&D Dept of your pages of exhaustive studies? Seems a warning should be issued that their brass should not be reloaded and...

Advice from a professional. -Lube your pistol cases.

The bag balm is petroleum jelly based with a smaller amount of lanolin added, so I could see that remaining slippery after drying. I spray mine in the gallon zip lock bag, when it dries it actually gets…I don’t know the right word for the description but let’s call it slightly tacky…almost kinda...

That's another reloading variable. ;) That's why the myth busting was done to verify neck tension and bullet setback to capture measurable and repeatable data. I used the actual Bag Balm straight for the myth busting thread as that's what I use for lubing rifle cases for resizing - https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/myth-busting-residual-lube-affect-on-neck-tension-bullet-setback.834035/ BTW, works very well and small tin is lifetime supply...
