Happy Birthday to the Late Skeeter Skelton

Not only have I had this special edition but just a few weeks ago I found myself referring to it and one of its articles on Skeeter's way of slicking up a S&W revolver.

    A spare reload if needed

Just got a mental image of you tapping, racking or dropping mag and inserting a new one while the bad guy is beating you over the head with a feather duster. Moral of the story is either your gun works or doesn't work when you need it and you either survive or you die. Or suffer multiple...

    A spare reload if needed

Funny, nearly all comments in this thread relate to autos with magazine malfunction heading the list. :( Seems like a lot of arguments in favor of a revolver, extra speed loader or not. ;)

Best Speed Loader for Glock Mags?

The Maglula Uplula has been around since 2001. For its price and quality, I don't understand why anyone would want any other loader. The Uplula takes care of most any pistol round/pistol magazine. The speed and time it takes to load even really high cap magazines is really gratifying. Of...

    We all have favorites

Of course we all have favorites. But if your favorites are not among my favorites, then your mental acumen is seriously in doubt. ;)

    New Blue Python BROKE! ugghh

Don't want a Korth but if I did, I'd just factor the money spent on other guns and what their resale value is. Suspect that paying for a Korth that way would be easy.

    New Blue Python BROKE! ugghh

Korth "defect" is too tight tolerances by U.S. standards. Doesn't like cheap ammo or bad handloads. Or so I've heard. :p

Opinions on the perfect nightstand handgun.

In separate locations the S&W Model 686+ Performance Center 2.5-inch barrel Beretta 92FS, I like having a safety on model around house although sometimes I have a "G" model ready.

    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

Six to 8 pound double action triggers are easily attainable on Beretta 92s and some of the newer models do not require any spring changes. Also models in the 92 family exist that are single action only with 1911 type safeties. Currently 19 models/variations exist within the 92s (more properly...

    Infirmities? Auto vs. Revolver

I ain't what I used to be. And while I'm a dedicated revolver user, I do favor at times the auto pistol Numerous times, usually posted in the Revolver section of The High Road, shooters have said they've turned to revolvers because they can no longer work the slides of the auto pistols...

Fun Hand Cannon Day: 500S&W Magnum: 460S&W Magnum and Beautiful BFR

Always entertaining and informative. Really like MrRevolverGuy's posting. Bur I gotta add my usual warning, them big boys are going to make a shooter pay in pain and injury as time goes by. Not worth the fun.

Well used import 92F for $325?

.455 Hunter, since you already own and are familiar with the 92s, trust your own judgment about buying. I suspect they are pretty decent. If they might be police guns, you could surmise carried much, shot little. How's the holster wear if much at all. If you buy and it turns out to be junk...

King of modern defense revolvers: S&W 686+

Point of historical reference, when the Model 19 came along its chief rival was the Colt Official Police/Officer Model which had dominated the market prior to WWII. The OP had the same frame as the then introduced Python and Colt .357. Bill Jordan was a S&W fan through and through and in his...

King of modern defense revolvers: S&W 686+

The L-frame sized revolvers, be they Colt Python or Ruger GP100 or the S&W 586/686 models, are the best selling wheel guns in today's market. That size matched with the .357 S&W Magnum Cartridge/.38 S&W Special Cartridge seals their popularity. And of that batch, I believe the S&W 686+ model...

    624 3” vs 625 MTN .45 Colt?

Can't see much practical difference between either gun. Both calibers are handloaders' delight with ability to go hot to mild. OP should just slip a coin.

    S&W 14-4 (trash or treasure $980)

Love the Model 14. But with my admitted limitations as a shooter, I find the Combat Masterpiece/Model 15 the better choice, especially with the same three "Ts." Generally the Model 14 commands a lesser premium price when pristine compared to the Model 15. Or so I've found.

Wait until next week; it'll be higher. And the week after....... 😀

66-2, 686 (no dash) or 686 SSR Pro

Weight as a consideration; according to the S&W home site for 4-inch barrels: K frame 66: 36.9 ounces L frame SSR 686 skeletonized barrel: 38.3 ounces L frame 686 full lugged barrel: 40.3 ounces

    My GP100 is Complete

Although I prefer the Match Champion in original factory trim with fixed sights, I think Chief TJS has produced a winner! Being able to say "this is my baby" is oftentimes what owning a gun is all about.
