    CVA Muzzle loaders

Not aware of any law preventing you from putting a scope on a flintlock if you want to.🙂

    CVA Muzzle loaders

Exactly, that's the only reason I bought an inline. I don't see any difference except your flintlock might not have the range my CVA has. O,ther than that its just sour grapes

    CVA Muzzle loaders

CVA is not singled out here, but yes, there are many, even here on THR that look down thier noses at any in-line. I've called them out on it a couple times because they don't help thier own hobby much with some of thier responses to inline owners in the BP forum. I think in-lines are a good way...

    Caldwell Lead Sled

2 pts you state that make no sense to me: 1. POI does not change because of where the gun is placed on a rest unless it is not free floated or bedded well, or if you put the barrel on the rest. 2. Load development is more critical to me than sight in. Sight in: I'm just looking for cold bore...

The pitfalls of relying on reloaded ammo.

Not surprised. I've had more issues with Win white box ammo than just about any other centerfire. That rd may have still functioned in my Glock, probably not in my other 9mm.

    Caldwell Lead Sled

Might be why they call it a "sled" cause it needs to be able to slide a bit under recoil. 🙂

    Caldwell Lead Sled

Carpet scraps are great for that.🙂

    Caldwell Lead Sled

Lead sled has no affect on barrel harmonics for a free floated rifle unless you are putting the barrel in the front rest instead of the forearm. I also do not use any weight on the sled when I do use one. If the sled can't move some with the recoil then it could damage a wood stock.

    Offhand shooting practice

My freezer would have been mighty slim some years if I couldn't shoot a deer offhand. But I know my limits. I shoot sillouet at 200m, with my 30-30 and 45c lever gun, but my hit percent on 200yd rams is about 50%. So on live deer 100yds is normally about my max with irons, maybe 150 with a...

    Caldwell Lead Sled

I find it very useful for bore sighting when I install a new scope or sighting in a friends gun. It's also useful for cleaning some guns. As for fine grouping, I find I'm much better with a bipod and rear bag or bags front and back. The framework and rear rest on the sled do not allow a proper...

    Starling Shooting

Yes, I've taken out about a dozen so far this year. I have a couple very very small gaps between the metal roof on my house and the metal trim pieces on the corners and those buggers are able to get in them. I keep a 12ga pump over the side door and a .410 bolt action at the back door where my...

    What Happened to this Brass?

Yes, this is what I do. I run them thru a Makarov die, but I push them inverted, base first thru the die. Primed or not doesn't matter this way, but you cannot do this with loaded rds. I've bulge busted loaded 40sw and 10mm rds, and I have done a couple 9mm, but the force I have to use getting...

    What Happened to this Brass?

Yep, this is the conclusion I've come to. I guess it's good that I have a way to remove the bulge if I really needed to , but I won't be saving any more of these cases.

    What Happened to this Brass?

If you want to get technical, almost no semi auto pistols have fully supported chambers. But from what I've read, earlier Glocks and Berettas had some of the "loosest" chambers at feed ramp and extractor areas and thus experienced the "glock bulge" more than some others. The bulged cases I've...

Just got a new Teslong Bore Scope

Have you thought about using one of these? I have a couple fron Hoppes, I think Allen or Caldwell have some even cheaper. https://www.tiptonclean.com/sale/deluxe-1-piece-carbon-fiber-cleaning-rod/658675R_M.html

Bad News for Deer Hunters: CWD in 2 Men

Yep, here's another link to a different article in USA Today, basically same story. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/04/26/deer-meat-hunters-zombie-deer-disease-cdc-response/73468240007/

    help picking a press

I'm getting closer each day to this mentality. I loaded 300rds of 10mm and 200rds of 357 on my Classic Turret last week. Did this in about 2hrs on two consecutive nights and my shoulder ached a bit the next day. That's never happened before and I've loaded much more than that in previous settings.

    Any 300WinMag plinking loads?

Cheapest plinking load I've found is 180 Interlock blemished and Sw4350. My hunting load is H1000 and 200eldx. H4831sc, Imr7828ssc, H4350, Retumbo, RL22 have all worked great for me, but H1000 is my favorite so far.

    Offhand shooting practice

Get a lever gun and enter some sillouet matches. It will force you to practice offhand a lot more.🙂

Just got a new Teslong Bore Scope

Cool. Jus Just beware if you don't already know: Copper and Lead seem to layer on each other. If you shoot Copper after shooting Lead, you need to go back to bare metal in barrel again afterward. Like that old saying: "whiskey after beer...." , Copper after Lead is causing loss of grouping for...
