Hi all,
I'm looking for a plinker and a gun to introduce my friends to shooting with. There's a used 10/22 in town for $220, a used Remington 512 in decent shape for $200, and I'm pretty sure I can pick up a new Savage Mark 2 for just a bit more over $200.
I grew up on a 10/22; it was the...
Hi all,
I'm about to move out to the Port Angeles area of Washington, right on the north side of the Olympic Peninsula. I know next to nothing about what there is to hunt out there, or even places to shoot. I've lived in MI and NC, and done all my hunting on private land, relatives and so...
It's a Gen 3 glock.
The round goes partially up into the chamber and sticks. It does leave the magazine.
And I moved back to MI recently, just haven't changed my info yet since I haven't been active on the forum in a while.
My brother actually got one just like it and he's having the same...
Hi,
I just got a Glock 22 from a reputable gun shop that was a police trade in. I took it out to the range with my friend and put 250 rounds though it. I disassembled it before hand, but did not clean or do anything to it. We experienced many, many failure to feeds using both Fiocchi and...
Well, I checked the zero and it was ever so slightly to the left. Other than that, we're back in business. I'm using the 100 grain for now (I have those, too), and we'll do the 80 grain when I'm sitting out there for coyotes or just plinking. I'm a decent shot (I know we've heard that a million...
Hi all,
I'm about to buy a CZ 75b and I was trying to decide whether to do the DA/SA or the SA version when I came up with the question, "can't I still just carry the DA/SA model cocked and locked anyway?" And the first trigger pull would then be light, correct?
So, there's no decocker...
I'm not sure what my barrel twist is. It's a savage 111 from the pawn shop. I don't recall ever seeing twist written on the side of the barrel.
I have to check the zero anyway after one of the barn cats knocked it over and it fell right onto the scope. Since I'm already pissing off the...
Alright, thanks for the advice. You've potentially spared a deer a slow death and I would have felt horrible about that. Also, not that it matters a whole lot, but I meant to post this in the hunting section and I did it here by mistake. I must have been tired.
Hi all,
So I bought several boxes of Remington ammo the other day. I was going for 100 grain core lokt for hunting deer here in NC. I picked up a few boxes of 80 grain as well by accident and I was wondering if that would still work on our tiny deer down here. What do you guys think?
Just...
Yup, I'm chiming in to join the backpacker and hunter crowd. I suppose I would consider myself a granola hippy, but I'm also a science teacher and zoologist. Humans should play an active role in the environment, and that means harvesting game.
Trying to find the article on the site but it's...
Here's a write-up by the Wisconsin DNR on why temporary bait bans are a good tool to stop CWD.
http://www.cwd-info.org/pdf/FeedingDeer.pdf
In the interest of full disclosure, I didn't read it in its entirety. I read some and skimmed some.
Also, take note that I'm not saying every state...
On the topic of baiting deer, in MI we have problems with bovine TB. They've outlawed baiting deer because they thought that deer congregating at bait piles would be pose a disease transmission risk. So, at least in MI, from what I understand, it's not anti-hunting sentiment that's driving the...
My profile says NC, but I'm originally from MI.
It's my understanding that the deer population as really boomed in the past few decades. When I'm back I see them all over the place. (My stomping grounds are just west of Lansing and then up in Ogemaw County.) It might just be a specific area...
I really enjoyed that story. Thanks for posting it! Sounded like fun.
I imagine there's a taboo about shooting dogs, but there doesn't seem to be any taboo about shooting coyotes or wolves. They all do the same thing once they're out in the wild, so I don't see an issue with it.
I just checked online on some specials and it seems they sell the 110 packages at those prices but not the ones with the accutrigger.
I guess I don't know how much more I like the accutrigger than the other trigger. I've only shot savages with the accutrigger. I did like it a lot though. But...
