    How many rounds?

I would think that if the jackets came apart, so would any accuracy.

    How many rounds?

That`s a question in my mind as well. If one shoots only jacketed bullets, shouldn`t lead accumulation be essentially negligible? Then again, I`m always in need of education on this stuff!

    How many rounds?

What, if anything, is noted to be particularly good at lead removal?

"Upgrades" to a Savage Axis (not an Axis II)

New scope and better trigger? No reason to think that Axis won`t continue to shoot great ( maybe even better! ).

"Upgrades" to a Savage Axis (not an Axis II)

Yeah, Savage sure has sold ( and continues to sell ) a ton of those " pigs " . No doubt a major contributor to that is the price point and . the sales that periodically come up at places like Cabela`s, amounting to the fact that a lot of folks can get a " bargain basement " rifle that`s proven...

"Upgrades" to a Savage Axis (not an Axis II)

Be sure and give us an update after a range session.

    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

Well, in reality, unless things have changed, CCI and Winchester are the only two manufacturers of 17 HMR loads. Whether or not they tailor specifications for other brands ( Federal, Hornady, etc ) I really don`t know.

    CZ 457 Varmint 17HMR??

I wouldn`t hesitate to buy a CZ rifle in 17HMR, just based on input from people who know about rifles and the plethora of positive reviews. Having said that, I`ve come to really enjoy the 17HMR as a fun range gun. I have a " basic " Savage 93R17 with a Vortex 2-7 Crossfire scope that`s been a...

Rifle optics: a blue collar spending perspective for cost / benefit

Bought a Vortex Diamondback Tactical, 4-16X40 FFP to go with my Savage Model 12 LRPV in .223 when I joined a club with a 500 yard range. 1,000+ rounds through the gun and no issues with the scope ( or gun ). Been very satisfied with both.

    How many rounds?

I`m not after tiny groups at 500 yards from my Savage Model 12 LRPV in .223, but I do want to minimize carbon buildup. Some folks on here whose advice I respect very much talk about the non-necessity of cleaning after each range session but I`ve decided to go ahead and soak the throat and first...

    How many rounds?

Yay!! Always feels good, at least to me, to verify that there`s not some inherent equipment problem ( broken or just plain bad ) and it`s something simple or that it`s the guy pulling the trigger.

    How many rounds?

I hope that the OP will keep us up to speed on how this progresses. I`m far from a rifle expert, but I would think that this is something we might all encounter at some point.

    5.56 in 223

I think it`s probably more of a matter of what you feel comfortable doing. My rifles have " .223 Rem " stamped on their barrels. So, I choose to shoot .223 only. Could I shoot 5.56? In all probability yes. Would I have a little nagging concern in the back of my mind? Probably. I go shooting to...

Most inaccurate rifle I've shot in a long time, and it's a head-scratcher.

LOL!! If I got overly upset every time I miss in a dove field I would have quit a LLLLLOOOOONNNNNGGGG time ago!

I think our gun rights are about to come under heavy attack.

Yep, not white and a member of the Aryan Brotherhood.

What .308 BA would you buy if you had a $2000 budget for gun and optic?

Yep, not personally paying too much attention to weight since this would be a range only rifle. My Savage Model12 LRPV has got to be 12-13 lbs all up, but then weight`s your friend in bench shooting. Thing is an absolute beast but will flat shoot.

What .308 BA would you buy if you had a $2000 budget for gun and optic?

I`m personally considering the Bergara HMR line, probably in 6.5 Creed, for a 1K yard range rifle. That or a Tikka UPR. Really am enjoying my Savage 110 Storm and Model 12 LRPV in .223 as well. OP might want to take a look at the 110 Storm in .308.

Have seen nothing but good reviews.

    New Remington Production Quality

This will be the third, that I know of, firearms manufacturer ( Bergara, Daniel Defense, now RemArms ) to set up shop in Georgia.

    New Remington Production Quality

Lol, considering the numbers of both of those in use today, there`s a lot of truth to that!
