heating
I was waiting for someone to mention heat. Air cools guns on earth, in space they have to radiate (mostly).
I'm betting the sloppy, beat-up old AK would work longer than the gun with tight tolerances. There are lubes that work in space.
Also, brass/gasses ejecting sideways will...
We had something similar with a Carrabas here...sign was painted on the front window (this is Va., so the 30.06 discussion doesn't apply). Anyway, I emailed the manager and the sign went away. The point is, management does care.
I also got asked to leave a Hooters for no reason other than...
Yep. I was there for both of those, and carrying too - just not in the right building.
Carrying makes me a better person. I can't let myself get away with stuff, can't act like the jerk I want to sometimes, etc. That weight on my hip is a constant reminder.
The 2ndA only uses the term 'arms'. The knife-rights folks rightly point out this includes them.
I wonder about software. We see nations engaged in cyberwarfare (Russia vs. Georgia), so the software (and probably hardware too) must be 'arms' right?
I had the same conundrum as the OP, carried in a fanny pack <yuck> for 2+ years, then went IWB under my shirt and jacket. That was OK until I got patted down during a CPR class. I didn't get expelled but it was a very near thing. Point is, things you don't expect really do happen. This is...
You know how you can tell the CG is hard a**? When one of them says, "Bang, bang," over the radio during a drill, half of the D.C. metro area freaks. Happened 9/11/09, sad but true.
Yes I've noticed that. Specifically, they see guns as designed only for negative violence. A first step seems to be engendering an understanding that there can be such a thing as positive violence (or threat thereof). Perhaps a shock to some superficial pacifism may be required, some sort of...
While I appreciate the logical approach I'm afraid we are often dealing with emotional decision making. How do we reach someone operating from a few, incomplete or inaccurate, facts and a whole bucket load of angst? I've said before, we need an emotional approach. If we can get the feelings...
Trying to stick with the situation as posed here... there is no way I can draw and fire fast enough not to die if the thief is aiming at me. Again sticking with the situation as posed, when thief has turned away my distraction tactic of giving up stuff has worked and I now have a tactical...
Draw, declare you are armed, and order a halt.
Giving up the stuff was a tactical move which succeeded when the robber foolishly turned his back. If 'dishonor' were even possible when dealing with a thief, there is none in taking advantage of an adversary's bad tactics. Beyond that, the...
I did read some cool stuff about lifting prints from casings that had been wiped. There was no oil, no conventional finger print, left but they were able to detect a pattern of corrosion. Obviously it was invisible to the naked eye - took special chemistry and lighting to make it show.
Wanted for swap: Barrel for xyz. Will pay postage.
The chemical fingerprinting was debunked because of the size of the batches of lead. Yes, the shell in question matches others in a box from your house, but also thousands if not millions of others.
OK, I gotta fess up. I've worn a chemical warfare suit skiing. I knew that it would keep me warmer and drier than anything else I owned, might even keep the snow out as I tumbled down the hill.
Seriously though, I've spent a lot of tax dollars developing good outdoor gear for the military...
Why does a common man need a stirrup?
Surely a serf can plow his field without such. And should a free man of means decide to ride for pleasure, again a stirrup is of no necessity. Some may even wish to join in the hunt; Bah I say, let them apply to their Lordship's master of hounds then...
because true liberals want people to be free
My answer to your original question is that 'liberal' used to mean 'free'. Free as in, '... all men are created equal...'. Mr. Jefferson also pointed out that our liberty stops where it begins to infringe on someone else's. Thinking a bit longer...
Well, I really know nothing but back about 1998-9 there was a picture of a 'soccer mom' sitting on a hillside watching her kids play. She had an AK propped up between her knees. I really wish I could find the picture again (it was in The Ecconomist I believe), because she looked so utterly...
Faculty is a good stepping stone, staff better, students perhaps out of immediate reach.
Get them letters in!
Edit to add I've sent personal letters to Howell, Sherwood (M&P committee chair), and Griffith (local rep and majority leader).
Carry on Virginia's public college\university campuses...
