Personally, I don’t care what you call it – hydrostatic shock, pressure wave, etc., but it definitely exists. When the target material accelerates beyond the means of the material to hold together all sorts of damage occurs. This is true with small varmints, big game, watermelons, water jugs...
I saw a lot (relatively speaking, as compared to none) of .380 ACP ammo at the gun show last weekend. (Tanner, Denver)
Remington, Winchester, multiple tables. Prices were still high but I bought two boxes any way as my dies are on backorder.

The .44-40 is OK for short range work for deer but it wouldn’t make my list if ranges over 100 yards were a possibility. A .30-30 will stretch the limit out to about 150-200 yards, depending on the game size and the ammo.
If you want to spend “as little as possible”, there are...
I live in douglas County, Colorado and found the renewal process very easy. THey mailed a notice saying my CCW was about to expire. Took about 3 weeks as I recall. That was last year, though.
The state is broke and then some.
They wanted to raise taxes, citing dire consequences if the measures didn't pass (the people voted them all down), but they still have money for this crap.
Probably won't even check serial numbers to see if any are stolen, just send them to be melted down...
Best semi-auto rifle ever?
Browning take-down .22LR.
Don't know what the Browning model is but they are still making them. Got mine in '74, Granddad got his Remington made version during the Great Depression.
A leading contender for a “general purpose rifle” on most people’s lists would have to be a bolt action .30-06 with a 3-9 scope. Substitute .308 Win if you like. Inexpensive plinking ammo and premium hunting ammo is available for both.
Well, those salespeople ARE there to make a sale –...
Correct.
Correct
Wrong. Both cartridges run .470” just ahead of the extraction groove. The .308 win is fatter at the shoulder but the .30-06 is longer and is a tad fatter than the .308 Win at the point where the .308 Win shoulder begins.
In Colorado it would be legal for the owners to prohibit discussion of firearms with customers as it is not job related.
It would aslo be illegal for them to attempt to punish you for engaging in lawful activities while not at work.
Don't know how it would work in other states, but...
Plugs AND muffs. Every time I go shooting.
Didn't used to do that and tinitus is a part of my life...
Granddad and Uncle didn't do that and they are both deaf...

First, there is no “best” rifle – they all have their pluses and minuses.
When I was your age( 1982) I bought my first centerfire, a Ruger M77. I still have it, it still shoots great ,and someday I will pass if off to a nephew or son-in-law. Hopefully not for another 20 years or...

There was a time when Ruger was buying barrels and the quality of some were not up to snuff. Ruger rifles got a reputation as a result.
But that was a couple decades ago. Not sure when Ruger started making their own barrels, but all the Rugers I have shoot great:
1982 - M77...
