first progressive press came when i started pistols and went from shooting once a month to a minimum of twice a week.
I'm now loading several thousand a month on my dillon square deal, and at the rate things are going...now that Im getting into WA1500.....an upgrade to a dillon xl650 is...
never cleaned a primer pocket. my loads all work just fine, my primers all seat just fine.
but if u feel the need just buy one of the primer pocket cleaning tools....
I don't own either anymore so I have no reason to support any 'camp' or 'fanclub'. I've shot most variations of both the glock and usp over the years. I have owned a glock model 17, and a usp expert in .40 and been issued many variations to carry.
In a gunfight situation the glock does have...
my first tumbler was lyman...lasted so many years i lost count....my new dillon CV2001 is only the second tumbler ive ever owned....which i bought due to the sheer enormity of it....any Lyman is good though
well, with WIN231 ive done 3.4 grains in a beretta 92fs, with a 147grain hardcast lead fp...shot ok...not greatest bullet for 9mm tho....going to try same load in a new gun soon when i get a chance to do some load testing
I load on a Dillon SQDB at the moment and i love the ammo it produces.
I am tossing up splurging the cash for a 650. is it worth it? I only load straight walled pistol cases at the moment, and have no imminent plans to extend into rifle, but I guess its conceivable i could end up fiddling...
In case anyone is interested Ive heard back from alliant:
Here are some suggestions:
115 lead Bullseye 4 grs, Unique 4.5 grs, Power Pistol 5 grs
124 gr lead Bullseye 3.8 grs, Unique 4.3 grs, Power Pistol 5 grs
135 gr no data
147 gr lead Bullseye 3.3 grs, Unique 3.5 grs, Power...
sounds like a chambering problem....which would lead me to check case length and oal....and check case neck. Have you loaded the projectiles before? are they crimped right, seated to right depth, and although i hate to ask, are they definitely correct size projectiles?...just measure one and...
+1 oyeboten's advice
I doubt mixed brass is likely to be the source of the problem, or the only cause.
I'm doing a load work up now for 9mm hard cast in every conceivable load I can get my hands on and when I've finished loading and testing I can let u know the results if you like. From...
yep...went and got a gunsmith who did some work for me to fax me the 9mm data while i wait to get a book of my own. The data is hardly enlightening...and is barely enough to safely work out some loads for all the projectiles etc i mentioned previously, so now offence but to all those who praise...
typical amazon canceled order...wont ship to aus
even tried an ebay auction...then they canceled and said it was too much to ship....
suggestions? i dont seem to be able to get this friggin thing!!!!!!!!
funnily enough...reloadammo.com doesnt have data for power pistol lead...and i have written to alliant....im hoping they might have a wealth of lead data that they just dont publish....they sure havent replied in 24hrs though....i'd be impressed if i got that response.
Thanks.... Im fairly sure the unique and bullesye loads will be ok...its the power pistol that has the most apparent lack of data....and thats what im most interested in trying...
I do always ask about loads and listen to what everyone says...sadly, load data publsihed isnt even always...
first of all: im not about to load something stupid and blow up my gun and injure myself...i have been loading for in excess of 10 years and have loaded hundreds of thousands of rounds...because im new to 9mm doesnt mean im an idiot.
I have a number of reloading books, none of them have lead...
