    Favorite short barreled revolvers?

I have deep admiration for anyone who shoots a snubby .357 polymer revolver.

    Favorite short barreled revolvers?

Ruger SP101 for EDC, although it's on a current short vacation while I EDC an S&W 9mm Shield to see if I like it or not. It does everything OK but it's just not a revolver. I also have a Ruger GP100 4" .357 Match Champion which is the sweetest shooter I've ever owned. A bit too large for...

    Ruger SR-1911 vs Armscor/RIA/Citadel 1911

What are they going for these days? Although I bought mine last fall at my LGS it involved a complex gun trade. Ended up $100 out of pocket. Perhaps I should call them in order to ascertain what price they had on the gun the day I walked in.

Visual comparison of Ruger GP-100 Compact Grips vs Hogue Monogrip

MCgunner: I, too, put Hogue grips on my SP101 and you're right. Best thing I could have done. I was close to giving up on the gun as the knuckle on my middle finger was so sore I flinched every time I pulled the trigger and consequently couldn't hit squat.

    Ruger SR-1911 vs Armscor/RIA/Citadel 1911

I've had maybe ten different make 1911's, including my current SR1911cmd. I've either sold or traded all the others. The Ruger is not only good-looking, it likes any brand magazine and any brand ammo and has never malfunctioned in 500 rounds. My quest for the perfect 1911 under $1000 has ended.

In defense of my Single Action choice......

Back in the seventies I bought, in a hardware store in Carlinville, IL a Ruger Single Six 22LR/22 Magnum. It probably cost less than two hundred bucks. It was the first single action I'd ever owned. I remember being impressed by its build quality, fit, finish, etc., and the smallish grip that...

    642 Club Part Three

Don't really know, sir. Mostly just use factory ammo, but then I've got a huge pickle glass jar still almost full of flat-nose wadcutters. I don't know much about them as the friend that gave them to me is no longer with us. He gave them to me because he had transitioned from .38 special...

    642 Club Part Three

Sappyg: Hogue grips help. They're longer and more of your hand will be on the grip. Helps also with accuracy, recoil, etc.

    642 Club Part Three

sappyg, put some tape at the end of your index finger. Helps. And yes, point shoot.

Angel, what is that strange thing below the holster?

    642 Club Part Three

Hey, thanks for the info: I did not know that you could change out just the holsters. I had thought that you had to buy a whole new rig. Now it's worth a second look because I swap for daily carry between a Glock 26 and my 442 snubby. (Depending on where I'm going).

    642 Club Part Three

Same as mine, 442-1 no lock. Lovely grips. How are they when shooting?

    642 Club Part Three

Tony, is that a 442? Regardless, a beautiful photograph.

    642 Club Part Three

When I was in the business I carried a Model 36 in an upside down shoulder holster. There was a tension screw to keep it from falling out. Worked fine, but I worried some that in a panic draw I might shoot myself in the armpit. Can't recall who made it. Possibly Nevada Gun Leather?

Hometeached1, Thanks for the tip. If I might ask, what does the Apex Kit consist of?

    642 Club Part Three

Shot the 442 this morning. I don't know what the trigger pull is stock, but it's too much. Is it complicated to do a trigger job, or should I take it to a gunsmith?

    642 Club Part Three

Picked up the (new) 442 today. Obviously the same gun as the 642, just a different color. It doesn't look at all like a blued steel gun with its shiny polish, rather the 442 is a flat matte black that, oddly, makes it appear smaller than the stainless 642. Of course it's not. On further...

    642 Club Part Three

Question: Apparently the 442 is the same as a 642, except one is stainless and the other is blue. So, does it make any difference in terms of membership in the 642 Club if I trade my 642 for a 442 (or am I automatically kicked out of the Club - in which case is there a 442 Club?).
