Center Hold Vs 6 O’clock Hold

I don't like 6 O'clock hold at all, because it puts your POI some undefined distance above your front sight plane. If my gun is hitting high above the sight at a certain range, I will first assume it's zeroed for a greater distance than what I'm shooting at, rather than having a "6 O'clock hold"...

Lubricating Black Powder 45 Colt Reloads

I have pan lubed in the past with SPG (pictures included), all you need is a few cake pans and a stove... However, since I'm also very lazy I will usually just buy my bullets (for a bit more cost) pre-lubed with SPG from the bullet manufacturer (as Bibbyman mentioned above). SPG is excellent...

Using Citrus solvent as an environmentally friendly less toxic gun cleaner/solvent.

Try Seal1 CLP! It's non toxic, environmentally friendly, doesn't have a strong odor, AND it works incredibly well as a CLP! Since 2018 it's the only gun cleaner/lube I use on all my smokeless powder guns (I still use Ballistol on black powder guns though, since it's water miscible). Seal1 CLP...

Lever gun caliber decision……45 Colt vs 44 Magnum/44 Spec

My two favorite cartridges! I would go with 44 Mag for the following reasons: -Not as position sensitive (like smokeless 45 Colt, which is mostly empty case volume inside.) -Cleaner (44 mag is usually jacketed, rather than cast lead + lube) -Better ballistic performance (too many 45 Colt...

What's the biggest handgun you've carried IWB?

A.) The largest I carry comfortably is a S&W M&P 9mm Compact, with 4" barrel. That is my EDC in the colder months when I can wear a jacket. B.) A Ruger Redhawk 44 Mag with 5.5" barrel is the largest I ever tried IWB. I soon realized a shoulder holster is the proper rig for something that large...

What do have waiting for you in the reloading room?

400 new Starline 45 Colt shells which have been sized/flared/and primed thus far... now ready for the fun part, powder and bullet!

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

I looked at yet another 45 Colt chambered Uberti today in a gun store, a new production Cattleman revolver with a 5.5" barrel, and it too had a very wide cylinder gap! Thus far, I am yet to see one in 45 Colt that doesn't. At this point, I'm at the conclusion that this is indeed "normal"... at...

    A '73 Lever Action in.....9mm? Interesting!

My guess is people who want to shoot an 1873 lever action, but want it in the most readily available and cost effective center fire pistol ammo on the market. However, I also think the upfront cost of this rifle will discourage ammo cost-conscious buyers like that in the first place. I know if I...

    Appendix carry.

Most striker fired pistols have multiple failsafe mechanisms... so multiple things would need to break at the same exact time. For example, both the sear AND the firing pin block would need to break/malfunction for something like a S&W M&P or Glock to fire... either of those things breaking in...

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

There is truth to this... I tested it with my PPK back when I first got it, using an empty shell with a live primer in it. I loaded that into the chamber, then hit the back of the gun with a rubber mallet. The gun had the hammer down, safety off. No 'pop' of the primer, but after a few whacks, I...

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

On a side note, I just noticed that they brought back their '30 Day Money Back Guarantee' offer, which is very respectable for any gun company to be able to provide. I actually took advantage of this offer with my brand new black Walther PPK back in 2020, which was very poorly finished. It was...

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

Yep, that 23 in a circle means it was made in 2023... same as mine. There should definitely be proof marks though, I believe it's required by law in Italy. There are proof marks on the cylinder, and proof marks on the frame under the trigger guard. So both yours, Barmcd's, and my guns are...

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

Yes! I wonder the exact same thing, especially because the PPK/S is still the most popular one sold... it's the only one I have seen on gun store shelves, I had to order my standard PPK model online.

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

I don't have a chronograph to measure the velocity, but it is an excellent shooter with exception to this flame cutting issue. This is why I'm a bit hesitant to send it back for a replacement, which could have other problems of its own. Most of my shots are fired at 100 yards, and the gun has no...

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

Thanks for looking... what's your round count and type of ammo through it so far? Also, year of production?

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

The PPK information has been a sloppy copy/paste job on Walther's web page ever since they first starting making the PPK again... they STILL list the PPK and PPK/S as being the same exact weight of 19oz. PPK is around 19oz, but the PPK/S is closer to 21.4oz.

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

Nope, it was just a typo... I confirmed it on Walther's web page. The 32 PPKs of old were 7+1, so no reason the new ones would downgrade.

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

I looked on Walther's actual web page... they got the capacity correct. https://waltherarms.com/firearms/ppk/ppk-32-stainless-steel IMO, considering the 32ACP has less recoil, it would be nice if they go back to the old style tang on these ones.

    The PPK Lives Again !!!

Cool! I own the new production 380ACP version in stainless, and I like it. It gets carried in the pocket holster (or for fancy occasions in a shoulder holster) every once in a while. I only paid $730 for it though, I wouldn't want to spend much more than that on one of these. Probably a typo...

New Uberti 1873 Cylinder Gap Issues - Is this Normal/OK for Uberti?

I'm still awaiting feedback from Cimarron, however I stopped at a local gun shop today that sells Uberti revolvers to get a look at some other specimens firsthand. There were three in 357Mag, two in 22LR, but only one that was chambered in 45 Colt. The 45 Colt was a brand new 5.5" Bisley...
