My opinion, .44. But has been previously noted you don't have to shoot, or carry magnums in either one. If your looking to woods carry, or, CCW, take a look at the CA Bulldog. Stainless steel. Weighs 19oz. The .44 Special makes a great woods gun. And if your not feeding the Bulldog a steady diet...
Too add to the above. The purpose of the stack of leather is to create a pocket for the barrel. Think of a flag pole pocket on a paraders waist. ( This was my inspiration)
The other purpose is the gun will rest on the stack using the front of the trigger guard.
This will keep your gun upright ...
If you just wrap your leather around the gun and sew the opposite sides together, you will eventually have trouble unholstering your gun. The leather due to sweat and heat and the tightness of you pocket will cause the leather to form around your gun. Great for belt holsters and retention but...
I'm in the process of building my own .36 pistol. I'm using an H & A frame, with a 10" Oregon barrel. Going to look like an oversized boot gun.
They are not hard to build. The H&A ( Numrich ), and a Billinghurst, receivers are both available.
Add your caliber barrel of choice, install some...
That's what my nude ex wife said, when I walked in on her and her nude " old boyfriend ".
She was caught just like the racoon.
But thankfully that was a few years ago.......no lingering bitterness here....:fire:
I currently pocket carry a XD mod2 .45acp. I first started by pocket carrying a Ruger SP101. And I have pocket carried a CA .44 Special Bulldog.
I never have issues with printing , I wear my shirts untucked.
Carry it, every day. You will get used to it. It does take a different aproach to...
Yeah that's my Dad's stuff.
The soldier on the left, in the picture at bottom right is my Dad.
26th Infantry Regiment. His boots touched ground in North Africa, fought at Kasserine Pass. Landed in Sicily, Omaha beach, Battle of the Bulge, all the way through Germany into Czechoslovakia. The...
I still have and shoot my early 1980's Eagle. I always liked the recurve look, with the compound power and let off.
They are smooth, but loud, definitely need string silencers. I tried a trigger release one season, but went back to three finger draw, it felt more natural with the Eagle.
Right...
I, on the other hand have rarely carried in a OWB holster. My normal is pocket carry.
I have carried a Ruger SP101 .357. S &W 642 , Kel tec PF9. Charter Bulldog .44, and am currently carrying a XD mod2 double stack .45acp.
The heaviest is the XD, but not by much.
I make my own holsters, so I...
You know the funny thing about the grip zone?
Whatever you are pointing it at, will never see it.
It could be worse, it could be stamped on the side of the slide / barrel
Despite all that, it works for me. My XD mod 2 .45 acp points naturally and stays put in my hand. I was set on...
I have had 9mm hollow point not penetrate 3/8", but have had .380 fmj penetrate the same thickness.
There is a lot more then just thickness, to consider. Polycarbonate has a grain structure, the older the poly, the more brittle it is. Granted the age brittlness is in years of time, but it is...
One show here in Akron, Ohio, I sold four handguns before I ever reached the first table.
Other times I have walked till I got tired and went home and didn't sell what I brought.
I have done it both ways, but usually if I have more then one for sale I wear a sandwich cardboard, front and back...
Yep, peroxide, baking soda, and dawn dish soap.
You could probably get a color alteration with the peroxide, but what's the alternative.
The skunk spray is mostly made of oil, hence the dawn dish soap.
Tomato juice does not remove the odor. After having your olfactory overloaded washing a...
What if you only have one hand available ?
Yeah I know you can rack the slide on your pants pocket lip, or a car door jam.
Will you think of that when you have a split second to get into action ?
To me if it's unloaded it's just a hammer.
