I'm not sure about other agencies, but the 40S&W P226R DAK is the issued handgun of the Michigan State Police. All you need to go with it is the Kramer MSP paddle.
My choices for compact 45s have all been discontinued by the manufactures but can still be found on the used marked. They are:
Sig P245 - the 220 Compact may still be available
S&W CS45
S&W 4513TW (pre-rail model)
I also have a S&W 325 Night Guard revolver.
Does anyone know if there were any aftermarket grips made for S&W Models 3906/3904 or 909? I'm assuming grips for a 3906/04 would also fit the 909.These models weren't around long before being discontinued. Thanks
The Galco Speed Paddle fits most of your requirements. It does not have a thumb break and it isn't lined. I have one I use for both a Ruger SP101 and a Colt DSII. Most holsters made for the SP101 will fit a Colt D frame such as the DSII or your Detective Special.
I have been thinking about getting a S&W Model 315 Night Guard for some time now. Does anyone have any experience with one, shooting and carrying? Would you recommend the gun? Does the 315 fit into a regular holster made for a 2 1/2 inch K frame?
Also, if you are in Michigan and have...
to expond(?) on what memhisjim is saying. If you use either one, 242 or 296, as a primary gun and carry a backup gun (BUG) it is likely to be a .38 J frame. With a 242 and J frame BUG, all you need to carry is one caliber for both primary and backup gun.
I have 2 SF-VIs, the more commom 2" gun and a 4" barreled version. I also have two DS-IIs, a 2" model and a 3" model.
Can anyone tell me how rare the 4" SF-VI and the 3" DS-II are?
Thanks
No camera but I have the following 3 inch barrelled wheeguns:
Colt DS-II
Ruger SP101 .357
Ruger SP101 9mm
Ruger Speed Six .38 (true 3", not 2 3/4")
S&W 65-7 Ladysmith
S&W 64-5
S&W 60-15 Pro
Taurus 85
Taurus 431
Saw them at a gun store today. Didn't even know they were being produced. At first I thougt it was a 6920 until I saw the price tag and then the caliber marked on the tag. I was tempted to get one as a cheap (ammo) training aid to my 6920. Good thing I didn't according to this thread they...
bought one yesterday new with night sights, 3 mags - $505.62 OTD.
It was however, from a police equipment supplier, but it gives you an idea of actual pricing.
Low Power .357
I carry 110 grain .357 Magnums in most of my snubbie .357 revolvers.
This is usually the Federal load. I used to use the less expensive Winchester USA brand until I found a good amount of the Federal load.
The 110 is loaded to lower power levels than the 125 or heavier...
3" revolvers
