Yeah... we all have those kind of moments (or days) I'm sure. I was so sure I had the proper magazine tube in there, that I didn't even consider that it could be the wrong one. That's what I don't like about Dillon's manual for the 550... there are several instances in the text where they...
...No change.
Backed out the Slide Pickup Adjustment Screw #13961 to allow the primer slide to travel deeper into the Primer Housing. Helped a *little* bit. Maybe not at all. Still misfeed every 3-4 rounds.
Adjusted the Primer Seating Punch and Cup #13757/#13825 so that it was at the...
Anybody have any issues with Winchester Small Pistol primers in your Dillon?
I finished up with some CCI's that for the most part worked well. But I had a few hundred Winchesters that I wanted to use up, so I switched over to them, and it was downhill from there. I ended up using about 350 of...
I don't have any of the USA1 toolheads, but I do have a few of the Jofer USA (also on eBay) toolheads. They are CNC machined from 6061 bar stock, and anodized. The OEM Dillon toolheads are cast aluminum.
I would say that the aftermarket toolheads are probably higher quality than the OEM...
Hey that sounds pretty neat... I'll have to check it out.
I've got more RedDot on hand than Bullseye, so I think that's whats going to get used. 4.0gr Red Dot is exactly what I was thinking... but I haven't checked it against the Lyman manual to get a rough idea what the velocity would be...
...to be loaded for a S&W 638, 2.5" bbl. IIRC. But the majority of them will probably get shot out of a Ruger 5" GP100. I would like to load them *near* the velocity level of the 38 Special Critical Defense that she carries in the 638.
The 638 is her CCW, but she doesn't really enjoy shooting...
OK, with that, FIRST, I have to say that I have exactly ZERO experience with AR's, or their operation... That said....
The thing I see in your cases that concerns me the most is especially noticeable in the 3rd and 4th rounds from the top in your pics... which show a bit of primer flattening...
I think before reading the pressure signs on that brass, it would be beneficial to know a little more information...
What firearm? Auto (AR15) or a bolt action?
How was the brass resized prior to this firing? FL resized, or neck sized only?
What Primers were used?
Condition of the primer...
...feel like going outside today.
So, what's a good practice load for the 38 Special?
I've got about 700 lead round nose 120gr bullets to use up...
***EDIT*** Memory Fail... Bullets are actually 125gr RNFP, "hard cast" (no BHN listed), "Suter's Choice"
Powders available... let me think...
Has anyone used Alliant Steel for anything other than the advertised steel shotshell application?
I bought a pound of it a couple of years ago to try in 12ga deer slug loads, but never got around to trying it.
Just wondering if anyone else has experimented with it?
I've got dies from most all the manufacturers as well, but my favorite and the brand I have the most of has always been Redding. They are just nice... but I can't say that they are "better" (in terms of making quality ammunition) than RCBS or Lee or Hornady. But to hold them in your hand, to...
Well let's see…
7.62x39 (I don't think it is too common to handload...)

30-221 (300 Whisper, now known as 300 Blackout for the newbs)
My wildcat that an old buddy and I designed for IHMSA called 300 SiempelDude... it is the 445 SuperMag necked down to .308
I kinda like the oddballs.
That's what I was suspecting... but I was too lazy to get out a reloading manual to get the energy formula... or type it into google for that matter and see if the numbers matched...LOL
Thanks!!!
I've played around with 800X in 40S&W a little bit with some cast and coated 180gr bullets. I'll agree that it's "blasty"... also makes a nice big fireball. Once it gets a little warmer better weather, I'll get out the chrony and see what it does... but I like it so far. It meters fairly well...
I just got one of the doodad's from Etsy as well, it arrived in about 6 days from Germany, and survived the trip. Haven't had a chance to use it yet though.
When is the primer pocket loose? When you can seat it with your bare fingers... when you seat the primer, and it falls out on its own.
I used to shoot IHMSA with 300 Whisper... waaay back before it became known as the trendy 300Blackout... back when we had to make our own brass. Used to push...
