I bought mine, NIB, last month. At the first shooting session, I found three problem areas:
1. The gold dot is not a good sight for my eyes. I painted the rear a bright yellow and it does a lot better.
2. The grips were not comfortable. I replaced them with a set of Badgers.
3. The...
Three inch Pythons are valuable. There is a demand for them, if they came from the factory with 3" barrels. Unfortunately, there have been a number of them "created" by `smiths.
The Colt Forum is down for maintanence right now. When it comes back up, I'd post your question there...
I just put a 45 Camp Carbine on lawaway and will pick it up next week. I couldn't get it today because it's still under police hold as it was used as a trade at the gunshop. I've wanted one for years but could never justify it. I still can't justify it but I bought it anyway.
My questions...
I carried this Python from `65 to `85 when I was forced, kicking and screaming, to transition to a Sig 220. After 20 years of holster wear, it needed re-blueing so a local smith did it for me. I was concerned about it but I'd seen his work. He made me an offer that I could not pass up: If I...
My Buckmark is 20 years old and I've had no problem with the screws. I always take it down as far as I can, including removing those screws.
I bought it because the Ruger was such a pain to re-assemble.

Lennyjoe,
Sounds like a reasonable price.
It's on the south side of Ajo, between Country Club & Palo Verde:
Slash K Guns

Now, get back to D-M and get to work.

If it were me, I'd go local, too. Diamondback has a good reputation and the Glock prices are about the best in town. Mags are easy to get and fairly cheap, too.
Check with Slash K for night sights. They used to install them free if you bought from them. The problem with Slash K is the store...

I had an XS Big Dot installed on the "beast", my Smith 340SC. It makes the front sight really easy to pick up. Go to www.gunblast.com and check the archives to see installation instructions.

I've ankle carried for close to 40 years. At first, I had a pocket in a boot. Next I had a holster sewded to the boot. I finally found ankle holsters and used them to carry Colts, Smiths, and a Taurus or two.
I've tried a number of holsters and found that the Renegade is the most comfortable...
I have two Para's, a Carry 12 and a C6.45. Both are LDA's, not single action as yours. Go to the 1911 forum and post or search there:

There have been a number of posts about the 9MM. My two .45's have guven me no problems.

Lennyjoe is the expert on that since he's stationed there. What's the military name of the "boneyard"?
When you go to the picture, scroll down and you may be able to see the Pima Air and Space Museum, south of Valencia Rd, between Wilmot and Craycroft. They have planes going back to the 30's...
For nearly forty years, my 4" Python was my standard for judging new guns. Each new gun was tested for accuracy against the Python. The Python always won until I bought a 6" Trooper. The first time at the range, the Trooper scored higher than the Python. I'm sure it's the extra two inches...
I have both the Nemisis and the Uncle Mike's. I found that the UM's tended to collapse so I glued a piece of leather to the outside and now it works fine.
I used to carry a 649 but since I bought the "beast", my 340SC, I've been spoiled by the light weight. The 649 is the most accurate snub...
