    Attention varmint shooters

@kingmt - You must shoot at my range. It is near a miracle if I find any brass. Place is filled w/ steel casings. At best I find some 9mm brass (which I can actually do reload) and 40 S/W (which I don't). Can the economy please fix itself so people will start shooting (and leaving) brass casings?

H4895, auto disk, and other powder problems

I was lucky enough to receive 2lbs of H4895 from my girlfriend today. It looks to be a good .308 powder. The problem is that I get inconsistent charges out of my auto disk. When I use other powders (HP-38, H335) the +/- is generally under .1. The H4895 has seen charge differences of up to 1.5...

    CFE 223: .223 load data

Looking for advice o loading for my .308 I have 147 grain FMJ bullets. There is no data on the hodgdon site. I figure it is not safe to just take 150 grain recipes and just "subtract" a few grains.

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

So conflicted now. I believe I will be purchasing both the M1A and FAL. Obviously this will be spread over time. I love the history (right arm of the free world) and looks of the FAL. The M1A just seems like such an outstanding package that I can't turn it down. Hell the reason I went to...

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

RFB does look damn cool. I am not buying this thing till after I pass the BAR in July anyway. Gives me plenty of time to shoot each....if I can find people who own each around here. I know I can find a .308 AR. FAL? Probably. PTR? Probably. RFB? Not a chance.

True. My inner gun collector freak wants something different. It seems that the ready availabiity of a AR-10 and reloadbility may win the day.

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

On the PTR-91: I am thinking it is a no go. From my research they absolutely destroy brass. While I REALLY REALLY like the price vs either a DSA or Entreprise FAL price the unability or reducded ability to reuse brass is a killer. I like to reload my own rounds. I feel my rifle rounds (not...

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

The Kel-Tec looks very interesting. Problem is that they are hard to get your hands on. Furthermore they may be a bit out of my price range. Price looks to be about 1350. However saving up a few extra hundred bucks may be worth it. Damn all these choices!

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

I would consider the CETME if I could actually look at it. CETME's when made properly have been reliable and a good rifle. However, I have not seen a single CETME in my area. Entreprise off the rack factory build may be my go to. Add a scope mount + forend rails and we are good to go.

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

Talk to me about different FAL factory builds. I don't think I will be building my own FAL as I lack the tools and likely the know how to build it w/o messing it up. DSA seems to be the top of the line. Enterprise seems to be second but has had a bit of checkered past on their receivers...

Reccomend me a .308 Battle Rifle

Lately I have been very interested in .308 battle rifles. There seems to be quite a few options out there and I was looking for some input. What I am looking for: - Accurate - Easy to work on - Easy to find parts - Brass is reloadable after firing - Can be shot left handed safely...

@K9 - The LRN 115 is a lead round. Wouldn't the starting round be a bit low? Simply start toward the max of the lead data?

    115 gr Berrys Plated

I will shortly be reloading 9mm in my Lee turret. After doing some research it seems that you load plated bullets between lead and jacketed bullets. I will be using Hp-38 and it lists these two datas: 115 GR. LRN Hodgdon HP-38 .356" 1.100" 4.3 1079 28,400 CUP 4.8 1135 32,000 CUP...

    CFE 223: .223 load data

...of several samples increases accuracy. In short: micrometer setting / grain weight of sample = VMD factor. You can then take the VMD factor * the charge in grains you want to use to find the volume cc. Use the disk number that is closest to that volume CC number. I load the scale for...
