    No.4 Mk 1

I had 15 various Enfield's at the peak of my collecting days. I paid an average of $39 for the #4's, and sold most of them for $600-$800 10 to 15 years later. Down to 2 each (Fazakerly and Savage) #4mk1's. 1 each #1mkIII* (BSA), and a primo #5mk1 Fazakerly. Used to use the Fazakerly #4 in a...

    Ruger Security Six

This will make you guys sick!! My first Security 6 (blued) was given to me by my now wife (of 45 years) for Christmas in '76, and being it was made in 1976, it carries the "Made in the 200th Year of American Liberty" engraving. Fast forward to Jan 2022, and a friend was helping a friends...

Enfield round got stuck after firing - headspace issue?

Normal. The chambers are very loose to compensate for dirt and mud, so this is absolutely normal. Remember the .303 head space is off the rim, not the shoulder. I reload .303 and only bump the neck, not full length resize. I do not have a sticking problem as long as I use the rounds in one rifle...

    Security Six grips?

2 Security Six's with Pachmyer Presentation grips, and a Service 6 with Pachmyer Gripper Decelerator grips. They are a bit hard to find. I have larger hands so the after markeet grips work for me.

    Remington 700 VTR

Bought one in .308 when they came out. Accuracy was not so good with 150gf loads at 100 yards. I felt that the stock was too flimsey, so I fitted it to a Boyds laminated stock, and bumped up to 168gr AMAX. Rifle is a little heavier, but instead of 1 1/2"-2" at 100 yards, this rifle will shoot...

    Good deal on Security Six?

Screaming deal! My Security Six is a 1976 that my wife (then girlfriend) gave me for Christmas. I think she paid $169. I bought a Service Six Stainless about 18 years ago for $239. I would jump on that deal you made. Good find!

    Solutions For Glock Slide Bite

Only pistol that I own that bites my hand web is a Browning Highpower Practical. I have 2-17's Gen 1&3, 2-19's Gen2, and a G26 Gen 2.5. My Gen3 G17 was used for years in 3 gun matches and never has any of the above mentioned issue. I guess hand size would be a contributing factor, but I have...

    Old rifle....what is it?

The headspace on a #1mkIII* cannot be fixed by swapping the bolt hear like a #4mk1 (unless you can find a box and try them all, as they were not numbered like the #4 heads). The only way is to have a bolt head made. The headspace will be loose, and the bolt should almost close on a Field gauge...

    Enfield No 4 in 6.5x57r or 6x57r

Andy, I think you will spend a lot more than what a newer rifle platform would cost. The #4 action is not especially strong, and you would have to either rebore the existing barrel or replace it, and to keep a #4mk1 profile will be expensive. I don't know offhand the chamber pressures of the two...

    6.8 SPC 6.5 Grendal

Converted one of my carbines to 6.8SPC. Had it in the blind 3 times, did not have a shot. I consider it very good to 300 yards.

    Remington 700 VTR

I have owned a .308 version for 6 or 7 years. At first, the accuracy sucked, maybe holding a 3" group at 100 with 150gr loads. Started experimenting with loads, and realized the factory stock was so flexible the action was apparently moving with each shot. I replaced the stock with a Boyd's...

    Lee Enfield Vertical Stringing

Make sure the screws attaching the trigger guard to the reciever are gorilla tight. And check to see that the barrel will move around slightly at the muzzle end of the stock. It should not be held tightly by the wood.
