The long wait is upon me

I myself am anxiously waiting for a Recce 7. It should be a good can, and one of the few that I found that can stand up to a 7.5" 5.56 AR.

    AR15 side charging question.

I put together a Sanders Armory 6.5 Grendel side-charging upper. I was really excited for it, but then some things definitely tempered my enthusiasm. First, when they heat-treated the bolt, it warped the threads for the cocking knob and it was stripping out any bolt I put in it. I was able to...

Would like to build a 9mm version of sig Rattler

I chose to build my 9mm, and I have a preference for the Colt SMG stick mags. This one's my MP5-inspired QC10 pistol build, in it's latest version. I think this is the way I'll leave it - it's a blast to shoot and it runs perfectly.

I know this will WEARY you but I have a (well worn) AR question?

...also I should mention that there's a company that came out with a charging handle/BCG that essentially blocks the gas port on the AR, converting it into somewhat of a "straight-pull" action. You could throw that in there in ten seconds, and your AR is ready for the hunting season. Take it...

I know this will WEARY you but I have a (well worn) AR question?

Well, if you've added hunting to the list it's going to push you away from .224 bullets for larger-than-varmint game if you're to stay compliant. Your state may be different, but that's a relatively common sentiment. In your case? I'd recommend a .300 AAC Blackout. It'll allow you to get...

Would like to build a 9mm version of sig Rattler

...a way to sort of sidestep that is with a Dead Foot Arms folding stock or brace, where the buffer tube is quite abbreviated. Some tuning would definitely be needed though since those are typically set up for standard 5.56 guns. Would certainly look awesome, however.

    CA Mag Ban Unconstituional

Yes, but I bet they're frantically weighing their options right now. If they invalidate it, it's a VERY well worded argument that could prove fateful in the Supreme Court. I bet they're currently weighing if saving CA is worth it versus losing their entire effort. Either way, I think their...

    2017 Black Friday Reloading Deals

Who makes a good M16 clone

Troy is also making an honest XM177 clone these days, but it was kind of off-putting with price (like $1500 for essentially a basic carbine). But it does look pretty good.

    Time to rebuild the collection...

I totally feel you Mac, I'm in the same boat. The elections and Mrs. Clinton sure didn't help my decision making either. Don't get me wrong, when's i was spending money it was on darn good deals from Cope's and PSA, but the problem was they always had good deals. After my last purchase, the...

Looked at a CZ 75 compact today

Right there with you. "Blasphemous" is a good word, and exactly how I felt when I picked up a CZ 75B SA. I put a set of VZ grips on it and it literally turned into the perfect pistol for me. I am a DIE HARD 1911 fan, and I was amazed how comfortable this gun was to shoot. I mean, for the...

    308 vs 300AAC

They're really for two different purposes. .300AAC is for 0-400m with the ability to run suppressed, .308 is for 0-800m. I would advise against hunting larger game with .300AAC, and I would advise against using .308 for home defense indoors. There is no wonder cartridge. If there was...

    I am evil...

It would have been WAY more of a "****-you" to the guy if he took the pawn shop up on his offer, and came back two weeks later to see his gun priced at $329 with a sign saying "Mossberg 500 12ga like new! Holds 6 shells!!" THAT would make me angry, instead of knowing I sold my gun to someone...

Best 300 BLK factory load for home defense?

Yes, my gun is currently over-gassed in its configuration. It kicks the 220gr subsonic brass out with the same effect as normal ammunition, when I would be expecting it to have a drastically reduced arc (my friend's PWS on the subsonic ammo barely ejects the brass, but can shoot the supers just...

Sig 1911 Super target .45 thoughts

I have a Sig 1911 Tacops TB .45. So far I've fed it anything I can find and it's yawned at me. First time that I heard anything about extractor issues, mine certainly isn't afflicted by it. It's a great shooter, currently around ~700 rounds. Would definitely by another sig for sure...if they...

Best 300 BLK factory load for home defense?

I would go the other direction and say subsonic. I also have a 10" barrel BLK, and if yours is anything like mine, a pistol gas system definitely prefers subsonic rounds so reliability is much higher. It's easier to lighten the buffer as needed, much harder to increase mass if you're already...

Operator so tactical he doesn't need to see his sights

LOL Swing beat me to it. It was the product of a tactical cheese enchilada, to provide, uhh, "asymmetrical diversionary capabilities"
