Tracers
The further tracers go the more errattic their flight path brcomes as their centre of gravity alters. WWII aircraft gun camera footage give multitudes of examples.
All of the above calibres. Have hit one @ 150 yards with a 150gn 303 @ 2530fps that just fell over without an exit wound compared with another @ 100yards with a 55gn 223 @ 3170fps that done spectacular cartwheels and giant leaps. Feral cat shooting is something like F.Gumps "box of chocolates"...
My son and I each have one,
mine is pre-war and his is post-war. Both are very accurate and we both use 308 loading data for our original 7.5 loads. IMHO the sights are the easiest to use for quick shots out of all the milsurps. The lack of a safety is not a problem if you practice safe gun...
G'day Curt, Silhouette shooters are almost
paranoid about locktime. Much more so than benchresters. but if I recall electronic triggers are not allowed for silhouette.
BTW a recent "Fly" shoot at Belmont was won by a Junior silhouette shooter using his silhouette rifle over sandbags. Five...
.223 plinker?
I've had a CZ 223 for several years now and am entirely satisfied with it. It gets used for targets out to 200 yards and game out to 150 with 55grn pills. My son has a Savage 110E in 223 of the same age and finds it very accurate on game out to 200 yards, his eyes are better than...
Rimfire rifle metallic silhouette competitors occasionly experience "bounce back" disks of lead from the chickens 40 metres away. No problem but noticable when they hit your leg or foot.
Not that I've heard. In fact they seem to be giving a good performance by all that I've seen on the telly. Any soldier worth his pay will make sure his rifle will work and IF they were swapping them for AKs and M16s don't you think the media would be shouting about it.
By the tone of the post...
It seems to depend on religious and/or tribal affiliations. Lots of civilian in Bagdad appear; on TV, to have "near state of the art " weapons but on the other hand the residents of Basra seem to be relatively unarmed and unable to resist the pro-Saddam element. The rulers are rurhless in their...
Hey Dude,
I am NOT going to sing to you but as I read the original post the point is that the army/marines wont issue ammo to frontline troops untill the probability of using it is eminent. This is obviously an attempt to reduce wounds and deaths due to UDs and confine such incidents to actual...
Firearm safety?
The armed forces DONT teach it. Muzzle awareness, forget it. It's the same the world over, "Clear it and clean it".
Also, the majority of military recruits have never handled any sort of firearm before joining.
During WWII countless thousands
laughed at the "quality" of the Italian troops who surrendered in apparent teeming thousands, except for the families of the allied troops who were killed in combat with them.
Come on Bruce, Wanneroo isn't that bad. It fun to lay down with the local wildlife ( tics & fleas & ants) coming round for a drink. Been a while since I've sent a few 7.62x51 downrange there and got paid for it.
Howa accuracy,
Eleven years ago my son bought an " Australian Mountaineer" aka Howa in 308win and it lived up to the hype consistantly. I know several other blokes who have these in different calibres and names, and all are happy with them.
