My thoughts on current combative firearms training
What is to follow will fire up a large number of people! So be it. I’ve been doing this a LONG time…longer than most and I know what I am talking...
I don't like heat shields that are not firmly retained. The 'clamp-on' types are a no-go for me.
One student in one of my shotgun classes back when had a Mossberg with a factory heat shield. The barrel nut loosened a bit over the course of a day's heavy shooting and the barrel inched out of...

XS Express sights might work for you - https://www.xssights.com/Products.aspx?CAT=8270
Shallow V notch rear and Big Dot front ... tritium in both. I have them and like them. The lamp in the rear sight is vertical, at the notch, and the front dot makes a 'pumpkin on a fence post' sight...
I have relatives in Mississippi, and they mentioned MS's "enhanced" carry permit to me previously.
A local range describes it thus -http://www.desotogunrange.com/enhanced-carry/
In Mississippi, any legal resident that passes a background check can typically obtain a concealed carry permit...
See http://monsterhunternation.com/2015/11/16/thoughts-on-paris/
IMHO the whole thing is worth reading. But what I'd like to hear is some discussion of the idea of a "super carry permit" - if not at the federal level, perhaps at the state level.
Comments? Questions?
For those who...
I'd like to have one just on GP. It would be useful in a serious shotgun class, which is IMO the best way to learn to use any new gear. And for anyone who really depended on a keeping a shotgun fed ... which is anyone who uses one for serious purposes ... it seems to me a good idea.
YMMV of...

A read of http://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2015/10/arranging_american_gun_confiscation.html might help clarify things a bit.

Of course you are welcome to your opinions. And welcome to express them. I feel very strongly that further restrictions on honest people would be counter-productive in the extreme. In various locations desperate officials have finally begun arming teachers to prevent attacks on...
to be honest, I do not believe that any reasonable alternative to gun control exists.
Tell me please, what has happened in any so called mass shooting in the past two years that was not ALREADY ILLEGAL?? If criminals obeyed laws ... these things would not happen.
And pray tell, how do you...
If you trim it I'd remove all the overlapping material to allow 1/2" or so space between the receiver and forend when fully retracted.. It's easy to get a shirt sleave or clothing jammed in that over lap. You can also remove a chunk from your hand.
This is IMHO the biggest consideration...
I'm taking a defensive shotgun class soon so I guess that will reveal all. I just don't want to be the guy with a broke shotgun.
Be on the safe side and carry a backup gun. Even if you have to borrow one to do it.
Two dimensional targets often do poorly in teaching people how to aim who will in actuality be shooting at three dimensional targets in real life, should they ever have to put their training to work.

Even in rural areas, life is not as pastoral as it once was. Drugs and their users are pretty much everywhere. Anyplace within easy driving distance of 'problem areas' is likely to have visitors looking for easy prey. And there are enough home grown predators to go around no matter where you...
Looks like a sort of rework of the WW2 OSS string holster... I could see a VersaCarry or variation thereof as an improvement, since it covers the trigger guard, but not that thing.
