Almost shot neighbor's dog, right or wrong?

"Nothing was incumbent on him..... Bingo. It's incumbent on all of us to protect ourselves and our families, not carry a utility belt full of weapons useful for each and every situation under the sun." With rights come responsibilities. Use of force appropriate to the situation at hand...

Almost shot neighbor's dog, right or wrong?

Kimberdad: "I dont carry pepper spray, I carry a pistol." This is what I'm talking about in terms of mindset. One response to every threat, lethal force. If you don't feel that you can deal with every threat in the range up to justifiable lethal force with your bare hands, give yourself...

Almost shot neighbor's dog, right or wrong?

I won't respond to personal attacks. You have your opinions, as is your right (at least for now). I will say, in support of my opinion, that this post summarizes the image held by anti-gunners about people who carry. Namely, that they are walking around, hand on gun, looking for a reason to...

Almost shot neighbor's dog, right or wrong?

That his first reaction is to reach for his gun in this situation shows that his judgment is too poor to be carrying a weapon. I am a firm believer in RKBA, for defense against immediate lethal threats. A charging dog, even a dreaded "pitbull", does not rise to that level. This is why I carry...

Almost shot neighbor's dog, right or wrong?

I hope your right to own a weapon is taken away before you kill someone. You are the poster child for anti-gunners.

    Problem with my GP100

Try the bump drill: http://www.downrange.tv/videos/bruce-gray.htm and the wall drill: http://www.downrange.tv/videos/walldrill.htm These, along with the previous advice to leave a random empty cylinder, should get you on the right path.

    sig good or bad?

Another SIG endorsement here, I have a P239 that I'm very happy with. It's the most accurate small auto I've ever fired, and so far no malfunctions. Even in cases where I've heard of problems, the owners have sent them back and they've been fixed.

    Don't Talk To Police

Aside from the basics, i.e. your name and the fact that you are a victim, you should only say that you are too upset to talk about it and that you want to calm down and discuss the situation with a lawyer. If they get pissed you just have to stand your ground politely. While I agree with some...

    9mm loads for IDPA

I'm looking for suggestions/experience that people may have for 9mm IDPA loads. I plan to load cast or plated for use in my P239 or PX4. Obviously I want to stay just over the power floor for maximum controlability. So what recipes have worked out for folks here? Any tips appreciated.

    Opticsplanet.com

+1 here also, I've done several good orders with them. They actually called me on something that was backordered one time. Emailed me when it came back in and gave me the original price.

    Long barrel 1911ish pistols?

"Ya know, I am not really sure that long barrel improves accuracy but it sure looks neat! Tom" The difference between a 5" and 7" barrel is not going to be too significant in a ballistic sense, but the increase in sight plane is a major factor in increased accuracy.

    Long barrel 1911ish pistols?

I haven't seen any 7", but these folks make a nice 1911 with 6" barrel: http://www.fusionfirearms.com/ I shot one at the range and it was definitely a nice pistola.

    1911 Questions

I wouldn't dare to dis on a 1911 :-). But, you really should give some thought to intended use. As good as a 1911 is, I can think of better learner target guns, better CCW guns, etc. What is your interest? That might be a better place to start.

    Target stands

I saw these a while back and gave them a try. Worked better than I thought, so I've since made a couple more: http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/edu24.htm

Ever Get The Feeling Antis Want a Global Ban

"Remember, Europe still has remnants of social classes. Elitists (They prefer Enlightened) like social classes, since they are the ones on top, and know "what's best" for the serfs. " Do you honestly think that it's just a "remnant", or that those elite classes have not been recreated here...

Pondering a PX-4 storm in .40. What has been your experience with this weapon?

I have one in 9mm. It's a great gun, my only real complaint has been a poor selection of holsters. Hopefully it will get better with time.

Good 9mm handgun that can "do it all"?

Just my personal 2c, DO NOT buy a gun with a manual safety. Buy one with a decocker, and train to take your first shot DA. A manual safety is too much of a liability under stress, a factor that people always underestimate. IMHO, they also contribute to a series of bad habits in gun handling...
