    RIP RC Model sad news

Hello friends and neighbors,, haven't posted since July of 2014 but I must say RC was a blessing to this site and to me. He answered many questions and always gave great advice. I hope his family can find peace and I hope to meet him in the next life. Thanks for posting his pic. Nice to put a...

1851 Colt Navy manuf. in 1861

Well the jeweler /gun shop owner says definitely brass plate over brass. Numbers date to late 1861, barrel has a different number then the several other matching numbers though. All in the same time frame. Left it with another gun shop so their "expert" could look at it. Now two side plate...

1851 Colt Navy manuf. in 1861

A plating of some sort. Chipped in places, slightly higher than the brass underneath. Worn off at the base of the butt, flaking in other areas. I'll take it to a jeweler friend to see if he can test it. Quite the puzzle. Yes the pic is not very good, hard to see the difference between...

1851 Colt Navy manuf. in 1861

Hello friends and neighbors, My 1851 navy has matching numbers and the colt stamp but the barrel has a different number,,,,,all dating to an 1861 DOM. However the brass has worn brass plating in a few areas. My question is concerning the plating. Were any of the old Colts brass plated...

For range shooting 4" or 6"

I prefer my S&W 586 6" to all others in .357. I would recommend the S&W 617 6" .22 as well....similar feel and balance, also great to start out with at the range. Gets me warmed up and saves money because I use less .357 to get on target at longer ranges.

    Colt Python 2.5 inch

If they ever oiled the revolver there will be some staining on the Styrofoam. My 78 box looks the same but it is in bad condition. My 1983 has an square 4" x 4" orange string tag in addition,,don't know when they changed. Could hv been in a safe wrapped in wax paper since new, looks like...

Ruger #1 .357 magnum found a new home

Wow learn something new everyday, at least I'm not the only one to be surprised the No. 1 was made to shoot .357. Fantastic rifle in a cool caliber. I'm glad it is in the hands of someone that will shoot/ appreciate it. Any idea on the year of Manufacture on these?

What's the most bizarre experience or event you've had while hunting?

Not really hunting but sort of..... Had been shooting BB guns when young. Older man, ex Navy Cap, uncle of a friend was asked to shoot. He said ,,I used to be pretty good with my old Daisy lever just like that one. He picked up my Daisy and saw a Butterfly fluttering around about 30ft...

    '97 Winchester at LGS

Thanks for the tips. We just started seeing Coyote sign last year and usually try to lure them in after it is too dark to hunt deer. No success yet but we are all beginners! We are "blessed" with several flocks of Turkey. Roughly three groups of 25-30. Get my limit every year. They are...

    '97 Winchester at LGS

Wish we could get a large enough Quail population to start hunting them.(hunt on private 60 acres) Only 2 smallish coveys so far and the predators are keeping them in check. That is very good shooting with a full choke on your part, experience is everything! I like the finished product...

    '97 Winchester at LGS

My 97 is about 25 years newer but was used in WWII and later became a guard gun( wish it still had the trench barrel.) It uses 2 3/4shells and I can shoot 4 before the 1st hits the ground. Be aware the hammer can be cocked by a tree/bush branch if woods/brush hunting. Debris can also...

    Some walnut for my S&W's

That is an outstanding brace of revolvers. I like the Walnut grips too. They do fine work. Having them made a little thinner would be great for me too. Are the grips thinner than their usual make, or thinner than the hand mold you might have set them? Bet you have some nice leather for...

    Colt revolvers

TYVM,,,mine was manufactured in 1907 according to Proof House (ser # 3023XX) and is one of my favorites to shoot. I don't shoot box after box but do shoot half a dozen cylinders before switching to the Jager Dakota. I should have realized you were using BP for a task, not because of a...
