.45 Carbine recomendations for under $1,500

Marlin Camp Carbine in .45ACP, if you can find one. Takes 1911 magazines, Promag makes a 25 rd drum mag that will fit it. Barrels not threaded, so I'm not sure how you'd fit a can on it. SRT Arms does suppressor conversions for them though: http://www.srtarms.com/camp.htm

Anyone own an American Tactical 1911

It'll have more than that through it before I carry it. No, I haven't run any 'defensive' ammo through it yet, but there are as many opinions on what's best as there are handgun owners, IMHO. I paid $480 out the door for mine.

+1 for CZ-82s, they ain't pretty but they're accurate and the ammo is inexpensive. My CZ-82 fits in a Galco Fletch 206 (Beretta 84) as if it were made for it- picked it up used at a gun show for a reasonable price.

Check GunBroker for used original mags. There are some listed occasionally, but you're liable to pay a premium price.

    Savage Model of 1917

I'm jealous, my 1909 looks wretched compared to yours :barf: Congratulations on your acquisition Tinpig, they're great guns. Have you tried the "10 Shots Quick!" test yet? Here's a link to a great site devoted to the 1907 Savage. I know yours is a 1917, but I don't have any...

    Anybody ccw a CZ82/83?

Resurrecting this thread again for anyone like me who's looking for good leather for a CZ-82 or CZ-83. I picked up a used Galco Fletch holster #FL206 at a gun show today, it fits my CZ-82 like a glove. The thumb break is also just right to act as a hammer fall for cocked & locked carry.
