    AR-15 Reliability, like Glock pistols?

Well, another day and we have more of a mix of opinions. What semi-auto is more reliable than an AR and still shoots well with open sights? Because I was also considering the Ruger Ranch Rifle which is also pretty fun - if not more fun.

Great information. Thanks to everyone who replied. It's just a matter of time now before I have one. :D

    Good revolver for a newbie?

You should be able to find a lot of S&W Model 10s police trade-ins for less than $300. There is no better "step up" for you without having to spend much.

    I need a .44 magnum....

It's an easy addiction. If I had only one gun, it would be my S&W 29 Special Hunter with the underlugged barrel and unfluted cylinder. The 44 Magnum isn't the monster folklore makes it out to be. It's actually reasonably easy and accurate to shoot for trained and experienced shooters. .

    AR-15 Reliability, like Glock pistols?

I've shot several AR-15s with great enjoyment and success, but I've yet to own one of my own. I'd like to buy one and keep it around for self-defense, short-range plinking and for SHTF reasons, but I don't currently have access to a range. It may be a while (a year?) until I can get to one...

Resolution to ""No Guns" in lease. What to do?" thread.

I appreciate the advise. I'll keep that in mind when I install my safe. It's small - about a 20" cube and would fit easily in a bedroom closet under some coats, etc. I can cable it or bolt it to something too.

Resolution to ""No Guns" in lease. What to do?" thread.

I asked the moderator and he gave me permission to post the resolution of what happened. Please don't give him a reason to regret it. :) This is fascinating. You guys aren't going to believe this. I ended up on the phone with the apartment manager. He says that clause is in there from...

"No Guns" in lease. What to do?

It's going to be Maryland. Yeah, I'd have to be careful about leaving books, magazines, etc around. Come to think about it, when ever I travel by car, especially in the boonies/mountains I keep a handgun within reach even though that's technically not legal. My gun safe is just a 24"...

"No Guns" in lease. What to do?

Hi. I'm looking to move into an apartment complex in a different state. They faxed me the lease: "Possession of guns or weapons or any apparatus related thereoto upon the premises or any part of the apartment community is strictly prohibited. Violation... immediate eviction... blah, blah...

    Hornady & Win231 for 38special

Have you noticed there's a BIG difference between load data in the Hornady books for 38 Special (especially around max loads/+P) and Winchester 231? I bought one of those "Load Books USA" (old Hornady books) and a recent set of Hornady Manuals and was shocked about the difference. I don't...

SEEKING DATA: 45 Colt with Lil'Gun

Hi. I'm looking for some load data for: 45 Colt with a 250gr. lead round-nose-flat-point bullet sized .452 in a Ruger Blackhawk with a 4 3/4" barrel. I'd like something at the low end of the "Ruger Only" or at the top end of the standard 45 Colt loads. In other words warmer than standard 45...

Handguns in DC suburbs? (Silver Spring)

Correction, more than 10-rounds mags cannot be sold, transferred, etc. It doesn't say anything about owning them.

Handguns in DC suburbs? (Silver Spring)

Thanks, dc2wheel! I hit the jackpot with you! I'll go check out that forum too. I hear there's magazine ban. 20-rounds? I guess that makes my Glocks OK.

Handguns in DC suburbs? (Silver Spring)

Hi. I'm getting ready to move from Denver to Silver Spring which is right outside the northern edge of Washington DC city limits. I own a gazillion handguns and I'm moving to S.S. instead of downtown DC because of the DC gun ban. My question is: Is that far enough? Will I encounter any...
