I once found myself confronting a similar dilemma, looking at my collection and wondering whether it wouldn't be better to get rid of some in order to depend upon the others. Like you, I appreciated the higher capacity of my pre-ban Glock 19 yet at the same time I was still a traditionalist at...
I can sympathize. For years I held a deep disdain for Glocks and used to join my buddies in badmouthing the combat Tupperware. Then one day I was at the range and decided on a whim to rent a Glock 19 and see what the fuss was all about. Wow....that rental Glock was dirtier than the floor of a...
I don't mind the markings so much. As I said, they're a small price to pay to have her back again. I'd already tried a few household cleaners, but hadn't considered Acetone. Are you sure it won't permanently stain the polymer? I wouldn't want to replace writing with a permanent discoloring.
And...
No, I have no idea whether the kid (he's only just turned eighteen, apparently) was the one who'd actually stolen it. It could easily have changed hands several times over the years, whether traded for drugs or stolen from an accomplice - perhaps even swapped for another weapon. God only knows...
I just thought that I'd share the good news.
My beloved second generation Glock 19 was stolen from my home over two years ago while I was working the night shift, and those who've been through similar circumstances will understand the emptiness I felt. It was rather like having one of your...
I owned a Glock 36 several years ago. I loved the gun, but it was a jam-o-matic. I sent it in for a once-over and even called the factory but their advice was to only use the hotter .45ACP loads. I'm sorry, but I will not tolerate finicky eaters. My Glock 19 has shot everything I've put through...
I had a Glock 19 manufactured in October of 91' and shot the hell out of it with the original spring assembly. No problems whatsoever. As everyone else has said, call Glock. They'll take care of you.
I've had similar remarks directed toward me from co-workers and acquaintances, comments about how they'll all come to my house when things go south because I've got all the guns, food, and water..yada yada yada....however I tell them all the same thing - don't even waste your time. They've had...
The only time I've seen my Winchesters jam was when an ex-girlfriend levered it like it was fragile. If you handle them gently then yes, they'll jam, but if you lever it like you mean it - namely hard and fast, they work just fine.
I've owned a Winchester Model 94 Trapper in .357 Magnum for over ten years and it's lightweight, accurate, and reliable. I even bought a Winchester Model 94 Legacy shortly afterward, also chambered for the .357 Magnum. Haven't had any issues with that one, either.
They didn't use the term cowboy to describe the dead man's actions in carrying the gun, rather they were referring to the gun itself. Many people who are ignorant about firearms believe that anything other than a semi-auto is a relic of the Old West - hence the character calling the dead man a...
I owned a Ruger SP101 for many years, but I sold it for many of the reasons you mentioned. I replaced it with a Smith & Wesson Model 642 and couldn't be happier.
I've got a Winchester Model 94AE in .357 Magnum and have had it for almost ten years. It's my favorite rifle, hands down. I even ordered and installed a large loop lever. I'll have to take some pics soon and post them.
I agree completely. Since no law can ever be speficifically applied to criminals, I see absolutely no reason whatsoever to infringe upon the Rights of law-abiding Americans regardless of cause or to what degree.
I haven't had any stupid moments myself (my father is ex-military and raised us right) but I'll never forget when I picked up my new Ruger Vaquero from the local shop. The owner's son decided he needed to show me how to handle and disassemble it (after all he knows so much more about them than...
The only thing I'll add to all the previous posts is this - be sure to clean your revolver upon arriving home from the range, as you want to get rid of the residue ASAP. I've always cleaned my Model 642 immediately upon arriving home and it's so clean that it still looks brand new, in fact I've...
