    Kel-Tec P-11 opinions?

I've had my P-11 for a month now. Two trips to the range and 300 rounds later I must say I'm mostly happy so far. Other than a sore hand at the end of each 150 rounds I've had no problems. I've ordered the trigger shoe for it since that skinny trigger isn't exactly comfortable. I think thats...

    .45 defensive loads

230 grain Federal Hydra shocks, not sure of the velocity. Used to do Cor Bon 185 grain at advertised 1150 FPS. Decided I liked that big heavy slug that's a decent hollow point. Seriously doubt I was getting close to the 1150 out of a 3 1/2 inch barrel anyway.

Shotgun or "assault" rifle for CQB?

9MM carbine!!! AT 100 yards!! You might as well spit. Using a shotgun out to 100 why bother to switch ammo. Stick with slugs all the way. With the appropriate shotgun and sights 100 yards isn't too far and a slug is a great equalizer. That being said I think the new Springfield SOCOM 16 would...

    Best Gun Magazine

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned Gun Tests. They are like the Consumer Reports of the gun rags. I don't always agree with their reviews but at least their honest. I can only think of a couple guns getting a bad review in a commercial gun magazine over the years. I makes sense if you think about...

    Anti-gun spouses from Heck.

First wife was scared to death of guns. I could have them she just didn't want to see them. Divorced for a long nasty list of reasons but guns weren't among them. My 2nd, current and last wife likes to shoot as much as I do. She bought me a gun safe for Chrstmas so I'd have room for a couple...

    Kel-tecs, need honest info here

If she doesn't like the bang of a 38 she's really going to be unhappy with that tiny 380. They're noisy and kick. I have to agree that a 38 revolver with the right loads would be the way to go. I personally have the P-11 in 9mm and like it, but it does kick and has a long trigger pull

How did you pick your carry ammo?

First test is reliability, it's got to go bang EVERY time. I've always read good things about Cor Bons in every caliber tested and I've never had a misfire. I carry them because they're accurate enough, reliable, penatrate and expand well. I carry them in 45 aurto, 44 special and will in 9mm...

What is your experience with a 3" 45

My favorite is a Springfield V10. Ported 45 with 3 inch barrel. It shots any type of bullet. I've never had a failure to feed after the first 200 rounds. I can load any mix in a clip and it goes bang every time. Accuracy is good as I can shoot it.

    458 win mag vs. 375 H&H

Something else to consider is some of the new VERY hot 45-70 rounds. In a new lever action gun they are very handy but do seriously kick. I can't remember the name of the top of my head but there is a takedown 45-70 guide gun that is supposed to be quit good. Cost will come into play but what...

Recommend a nice Coach Gun for home protection please.

Pump shotgun make more sense I don't think so. I like the storage capabilities of being loaded and no spring problems. Due to my trying out a shotgun in the old house I really appreciate the blast effect and don't think much will be happening after a couple rounds, even if you would miss...

    New 380

My wife has had one for years and loves it, she does CC with it. Only problem she's had is the magazine release. With a pistol this size and her grip she's nudged it. The magazine slid down just a fraction and the gun wouldn't fire. She's a great shot with it and it digests all types of ammo...

Recommend a nice Coach Gun for home protection please.

I bought a Norinco SXS with external hammers some years ago. It was very hard to open when purchased. Took it to a machinest friend of mine and had him smooth things out. Now it falls open when you push the lever. I keep it loaded beside the bed with #4 buck and 5 more in a cuff on the stock...

    Wildest gun finish you've seen?

Worst ever I saw just today at a gun show. A HOT pink Smith and Wesson revolver. All the metal was HOT pink and the grips were a deep purple. After getting my stomach under control I asked the dealer if he had any pride at all. He told me it was a special order for some woman and business is...

Confessions of a Yankee...or why I love the South

Southern I'm another proud son of the south. Born and raised around Winchester Virginia. We have to put up with those idiots in northern Va and DC but if you squint right you can't even see them. Here in central VA the people are fairly laid back but amazingly tolerant. The one thorn in the...

Do you wear camoflauge to the range?

So far it's been easy to sneak up on the paper targets in jeans and a pullover. Once they see me and start running I'll switch to cammo. Most times at the range or gun shows the people in cammos are idiots, and prove it from their own mouths in 10-15 seconds or their attempts at shooting. I...

    Home Defense and 3-Gun shotgun.

Using a shotgun for social situations and matches you really do need to have a set of ghost ring sights installed. The biggest benift will be with slugs but buckshot will be improved too.

If you had to pick ONE defensive shotgun...

I like a SxS 12 gauge coach gun, mine also has exposed hammers. Reasons? 1. Short and handy, more so than a pump or autoloader. 2. Can sit by the bed loaded forever, no springs to take a set. 3. Couple of quick rounds of #4 buck at household range settles problems nicely. 4. I keep 5...

    Bulldog?

As others have said the biggest problem with the Bulldog is quality control. I've tried some that seemed pretty good and a couple that I could just barely manage to pull the trigger in DA. I would rather purchase a good 2nd hand Taurus or Smith.

Why I think drugs should be legal

OK first a couple general observations about drug use. I don't CARE what you choose to alter your reality with. What is LEGAL can do as much damage to you as any illegal drug when abused. My only concern is what happens to other people when you get high on your drug of choice. In those cases it...
