XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Yeah I love the pistol, can't wait to shoot it a bit more, I think the trigger pull is very nice and crisp which I was originally concerned about. It's every bit as easy to shoot as my service model XD-45 and the sights are certainly better on the XDS. I shot Remington 124gr FMJs and tried some...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Yeah I agree that anything more than a 9mm would probably be a bit much for that size gun. Due to some shoulder range of motion issues I have a little bit of a hard time reaching around my back easily and quickly but I may have to experiment with something like a 4 o'clock position. Thank you

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Well I finally settled on a bi tone Xds 9mm, 3.3" model. I picked it up last week and shot about 40 rounds with it. It's a fun gun to shoot and seems very accurate in my limited testing so far, I also like the look and feel of it quite a bit. I am glad I didn't get a larger gun though, in either...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Wow, that's the best review I've ever read about a Taurus. I'll be sure to check that out, sounds like another good option there, sure like price too from what I've seen online you can almost buy 2 Taurus's for the price of one XDM or XDS. 10 +1 .45 sounds pretty darn good as well and all the...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

I would like to hear how those little .45's work for you at the range, I saw your other thread and am following it closely as well.

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Congrats on the weight loss Kodiac, yeah the 3" SP can get a bit uncomfortable sitting down or bending over for me. I guess there's really something to be said for having something pretty light and handy like the XDS that you can just clip on IWB or pocket carry and roll with it. I went to a...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Thanks Cee Zee, I have an XD-45, it is a bit thick to conceal especially w/ the standard length handle on it but in a pinch it can be done. I'm really hope to check out a 4" XDS, I don't think the extra length will be a problem but would like to try one on to see.

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Yeah ya'll are probably right. I hope my friendly LGS will kindly let me wear each one in the holster for a few minutes to try it out for concealability and comfort walking, sitting down, standing up, leaning forward, ect. I know it's not like wearing it all day but at least I should have some...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Thanks everyone, you all raised some good points, I wish I could get them both and hopefully one day I will get there and all will be well. :o I'm sorta leaning towards the XDM 3.8, it seems like its a very useful size although you brought up some great points 98redline in that I will be more...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Those are good points Kleanbore- I would carry mine IWB and as long as it doesn't poke me in the stomach too much I would like the extra barrel leangth as well.

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Thanks again everyone, just to clarify I was talking about the XDM compact 9mm 3.8" barrel. The XDM looks closer in size to my XD-45 service model than something like the Shield or XDS so I guess something smaller like that may fill more of a niche in my modest handgun collection. Kleanbore-...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Thanks everyone, my dad got a Sheild a few days ago and he seems to like it well enough, I do hope to try it out sometime soon to help me decide on it. It is very slim and comfortable it seems, fits the hand nicely.

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Thanks guys I have an XD-45 service model for a house gun and currently carry an sp-101 3" barrel but wanted something in semi auto as well and may leave the sp-101 as more of a truck and occasional carry gun. I've looked into the Xds as well but would like something in 9mm so my wife can also...

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

Well at some point I hope to make up my own mind, but until then I would like to hear other people's experience with either of these guns for CC. Thanks anyway though.

XDM compact vs S&W Shield for CC

I've been looking into getting a new CC gun here pretty soon hopefully and have narrowed it down between the XDM compact or the Shield. I like the idea of the high capacity of the XDM of coarse but worry that it may be too bulky to carry as often as something like the Shield which I've also...

Went to buy a holographic site but came home with a Mini 14

The mini 14 is a great rifle, I recently traded one to help finance a Colt m-4 because I have wanted one for years but I am sorry as hell I did. I think the Colt is a great rifle as well but not sure I like it better than the mini, so anyway a few days later I called the shop I traded it at to...

ATI stock for Ruger Mini 14?

I agree a plain stock has its charm on a mini, that's one thing I like about the Ultimak is that you can leave it and the optic in place and use it with different stocks. I usually prefer the ATI stock but sometimes I like the look and feel of the plain stock as well, depending on my mood I...

ATI stock for Ruger Mini 14?

I have one and I think it is a pretty decent stock except I didn't much care for the hand guard and top rail so I replaced it with an Ultimak rail and it's a huge improvement. I have a small red dot, a TRS-25 that now sits low enough to co-witness w/ the iron sights, for the most part, and is...

    Looking for new CCW revolver

Plus one for a 3" sp101, it is a good balance of power and concealability. With a Houge grip shooting .357's really isn't too bad, it's all I shoot in mine.
