    I've got a Ruger Blackhawk, S&W 19-2 (my CCW), and 2 686's a 4" -6 and a 6" -3. I think your best bet as a first 357 would be a 686, or it's blued brother the 586. My -3 has a trigger as smooth as my dad's Python is as tough as my Blackhawk and can easily handle any handload I make. Reguardless...

    Single Six

    I just picked up a used '76 Stainless SS for under $300. It didn't come with the box or book, but was in excellent condition. I wouldn't pay much over $300 for one. Just make sure the cylinders match, the last 3 numbers of gun's serial will be etched into the cylinders.
