What kind of gun did you learn to shoot with?

I was started out with a Remington singleshot .22. Have no idea as to the model. At the ripe old age of 8, I was allowed to buy a used Win 06 from an uncle. This was in 1937. I spent many days trying to figure how to buy a box of .22 shorts that cost $0.17. By '39, I had graduated to a 25-20...

Does Your Spouse / Sweetie Pie / Significant Other Carry?

My wife carries when she is going out alone. We live in a rural area and there is really no reason for her to carry at home. She has her CHL and a couple of pistols of her own. I think she carries to please me. I really doubt that she would shoot an boogyman should the need arise. Possibly...

    POLL....Are you a shooter or a hunter?

I am a shooter. I gave up hunting when I found that I didn't like to clean what I had shot. I don't have to clean the paper targets. :D slowstar

    Hearing protection....

I am old enough to have started shooting in the '30's. Never used ear protection. Later fired competition in USMC. I lost about 15% of my hearing then. Later I flew crop-dusting aircraft (24 years) that had NO mufflers. This resulted in losing most of the rest of my hearing. I still shoot a...

    Mitchell's Mausers

I have bought two Mausers from Mitchell. Both of them were lower grade stuff as I only wanted the actions. Both rifles were as advertised. Mitchell is a overpriced for all but the best grade. All in all, I am happy with my purchase. Slowstar

    Funny moment at Taco Bell

OkieCruffler, that's funny. You handled the whole thing just right. Most of the fast food queenies need all the slack anyone can cut. Most of them are too dumb to brush either tooth. And they gotta eat too. But I don't think I would have eaten the taco.;) SlowStar

    Gun Owners and Airplanes

Airplanes and guns? That is about as good as it gets. I have 19,000 hrs in light civilian aircraft, with 14,000 of that flying crop dusters. Legacy from the dusters is a deformed right hand and a flat ass. My certificate reads ASMELSCOMI, or something like that. I lost my medical about 12...

Where do you plan to be in 2008?

With any luck at all, I will be standing in line to vote AGAINST Hillary. Hill, ole gal, is peeing in her pants now, afraid that the gigalo, lying ass, etc Kerry will win this election. That would set her time back another 4 years. Methinks that times are gonna get interesting. Stick around...

Trust your life with a Entreprise Arms?

I own an Interprise that I like. I bought the frame about 7 years ago and topped it with a Colt series 70 slide. A couple of years later, Interprise started making slides for themselves. I bought one, real fast. It makes up into a good looking pistol and it shoots better than I do. The only...

who or what got you into guns?

I must have been born a gun freak. I was shooting a .22 rifle before I started school. Six years old and less. I wore out many gun catalogs and Shooters Bibles before I got out of high school. The USMC really gave me a boost by letting me shoot all the fine guns available at boot camp...

Farewell THR, I'm off to boot camp

Semper Fi, You are going to hate it, but it will be remembered for the rest of your life. And you will remember it with fondness. I went through MCRD San Deigo in August-October 1946. Most of it is still remembered after 58 years. Good luck SlowStar USMC 46/53 Frozen Chosen '50
