    Utah Training in Central Illinois

The Gander Mtn in Springfield used top holds classes on a fairly regular basis. I'm not sure if they still do, we moved from there a while ago.

Mora Companion: Heavy duty or Regular?

If you are looking to further your collection and were impressed with the Moras, check out J. Marttiini knives. My Mora was sharp when it arrived, but my Marttiini put it to shame. BTW, Marttiini is who makes the nice Rapala filet knives. Very nice knives, very sharp right out of the box, and...

Autocorrect. I meant wear a hole. Thanks for the input.

    Issue with MTAC

All good ideas, thanks guys. I had considered cutting the excess of the clip, but I haven't experimented too much with ride height yet, so I didn't want to limit my flexibility just yet. But I guess I could always buy new clips if I need to. I will also have to look into taking that spacer out...

    Issue with MTAC

I heard a lot of good things about the MTAC, and then I got one for Christmas last year for my XDsc. I like it a lot, but I've noticed lately that the bottom side of the back clip sticks out because of the height I have the holster at. With the curve of my pants at 3-4 o'clock where I wear it...

Can you help me rig a sling for this?

I use one of the end cap sling swivels on my express, although it is not the tactical version, just the standard 4 shell mag tube. The swivel works very well, I've never had my end cap even begin to work loose, always tight and the swivel is always loose and it is very stable. Not sure what...

    Survival/ First Aid kit.

The tubes of Carmex that you squeeze out also serve a dual purpose. It's essentially petroleum jelly, so you can use it on chapped or chaffed skin, but it's also flammable, especially good soaked or rubbed into something like a cotton ball or piece of cloth.

    Glock 19 for CC or

Don't knock all SA stuff just because of the XDs recall. An XDsc 9 might suit you very well if you can handle a double stack. Just slightly bigger than a G26.

If you were king what gun laws would you make?

^^^This. We complain about people not giving us our rights. Making others have guns that don't want them is just as much of an infringement of rights as not letting us have them. Sorry, but I wouldn't want most of you in charge apparently.

Best modern 40 cal hollow point for a Glock 23

I happened upon the PDX1's before I really knew what they were. Once I did my research I was really happy I found them first. I looked into TAC-XPD's for my XDsc .40 because that's what I started carrying in my .380. But I was told they have a tendency to come apart at higher velocities. I guess...

    Survival/ First Aid kit.

My hunting pack is starting to look more and more like my emergency pack all the time. What I've found is I tend to use redundancy as insurance. I have more than one of almost everything, fire kit, compass, knives, wire saws, water purification, shelter, snare wire. I have most of what has...

I have a couple felons on one side of the family. Not too worried about them, but should their buddies decide to show up...

How do you hug while carrying a concealed handgun

Either side hug or hug normally. Just try to be the one with your arms on the bottom, as in your arms go under theirs. That will keep wandering hands from your waistline. Or you might consider just the 642 for the get together.

Does a device to catch venting gas = a silencer?

Yeah, somehow I don't think the ATF will get a sudden change of heart when you say, "But the law doesn't say you can't hold it in front of the gun"

What was/is your first carry gun

The first I bought and used as a CCW for a time was my XDm 3.8" in .40 S&W. The first I bought specifically for that purpose and still carry was an XDsc .40. Love that thing.

    What's your "never buy" gun?

And every gun owner should also realize that the man who wrote that letter is dead and no longer runs the company, which, if you haven't noticed, is turning out some new, high quality, made in America, and yes, some high capacity firearms. I'm amazed at the people who hold a grudge against a...

    geocaching targets

How about welding steel plate to the side of an ammo can? Then you could leave your casing inside the can and there's the cache. You could even weld a bullet trap on to make it a little safer. Or a bullet trap that would drop the bullet straight into the box, then your bullet fragments are part...

    Best .45 for HD

My TCP did exactly the same thing then I gave it a really good cleaning and it worked perfectly after that. The other thing is what kind of ammo you are shooting in it, mine will not shoot any cheap stuff well, but quality ammunition cycles perfectly in it.

    New Shotgun???

If you don't have a pump go for the 870. With my 870 Express Combo I got both barrels and a mod tube, then I bought a choke kit with imp cyl and full and a better wrench for not much. All said < $400. The 870 does it all. I get 2-3" groups out of my rifled barrel with iron sights at 50 yards...

    Best .45 for HD

For HD I would think you would want uber reliable and way better capacity than a 1911. I would shoot for a striker fired polymer like a G21, XD or XDm .45, or M&P .45.
