    Optics for general purpose carbine

So. After hours and hours of reading reviews, YouTube, and responses here, I ordered a Holosun 510c Green. From Holosun: "The HS510C is an open reflex optical sight designed for rifle and carbine applications. Features include Holosun’s Super LED with up to 50k hours battery life, Multi-Reticle...

    Optics for general purpose carbine

I agree with you. I am just very ignorant about dot scopes. The concept makes sense to me, I don't know which of the three types will work better for me, and I wouldn't mind getting it right without buying 5 dot sights figuring it out.

    Optics for general purpose carbine

I have a 590 close at hand while in bed. My first choice for 50 feet and under encounters. This carbine I'm putting together is for when I feel I need to venture outside. I have 4.5 acres. Police / Sheriff's dept. pick and choose what property crimes they respond to, and local courts have...

    Optics for general purpose carbine

I have a 189 series Mini 30. Gun is heading to the gunsmith for trigger tuning, upgraded springs, and barrel strut. I live on the edge of civilization, pavement and streetlights, but a quarter mile from nearest neighbors. I have a good mix of firearms, but since I was burglarized a year ago, I...

Thoughts on picking my first gun.

My approach would be a little different from the OP's, and echos some of what has been suggested. A .22 Rimfire, suitable for Appleseed participation. Appleseed will teach you to shoot. Once you have that skill and exposure to other shooters, rifle selection will come to you intuitively.

    Need scope recommendation

Technology isn't all that advanced over the past 35 years. Prices followed suit. Finding optics that reliably withstand recoil in the $100.00 purchase range will be challenging. It isn't uncommon to have more invested in a scope than you do in the rifle. The redeeming part is that scopes are...

Moving to Herndon/DC area. CCW info please!

Jolly Rogers All it takes is an unscheduled car wreck on the beltway to find yourself on a detour taking you into places that could have you facing felony charges. More than one person has crossed Chain Bridge not aware that no mans land lie on the other side.

    Calling All Snubs!

Damn. Do you have a list of topics that are acceptable? BTW. Is seeking out newcomers and crapping in their threads a Frat House kind of thing, or do you do this just for your own amusement?

    Bad gun deal!!

Mnrivrat seems to me to have the best suggestion. Patience and persistence may pay off or may not. You can continue trying to assign blame, or focus on finding some resolve. Please keep us informed if you pursue some resolve. If a claim was paid by an insurance company, the firearm would be the...

http://www.gunpartscorp.com/catalog/Products.aspx?catid=4522 Some things available at Numrich. Savage Model 5 A & B, Stevens Model 66C, and Springfeild 86C share many of the same parts. I will try to find more info when I get home. I used to have a mental illness that manifested itself in the...

    Seeking information on Minnesota policies

Well, the Minnesota forum didn't have much for answers. There was an outstanding demonstration of jumping to conclusions, an attempted forced feeding of some personal agendas, and a couple of straight shooters that were willing to give what they knew in an attempt to help. I asked some questions...

    Seeking information on Minnesota policies

Thanks for the response. I need to adjust the focus a bit on some of my concerns. 1. The Deputy did not say "the Utah permit would be just fine". First, the Deputy was unaware of the reciprocity agreement with Utah. He checked and confirmed that this agreement existed. I asked for his...

    Seeking information on Minnesota policies

I grew up in Minnesota, and have been away in other states for about 25 years. I'm considering a move back there to be nearer to family. I have some concerns about the possession of some firearms and carry permits. I'm finding little on the 'net that offers much detail. While Minnesota is...

    De-mooning half moon clips

I think I am asking my question wrong. This weapon was used in competition by the previous owner [now deceased] for years with half moon clips. The problem is not the loading and unloading of the half moon clips from the cylinder of the weapon....it is removing the spent cartridges from the half...

    De-mooning half moon clips

Hi. Been gone from your forum awhile, don't seem to recall my user name / password, so I start with a new post count. I ordered half moon clips and a pipe type de-mooning tool for a S&W 1917. Some time back, I had a S&W Model 25 1955. It used full moon clips, that were loaded from the outside...
