I had a Ruger P95 follow me home from the gun show yesterday!

My P95DC has functioned flawlessly for years. I think it's one of the best 9mm pistols that you can get for the money.

Problem with a SW model 19

I too am thinking loose (becoming unscrewed) ejector rod is first thing to check. Keep in mind that it's left hand (backwards) threaded in S&W revolvers made since late 50's or so.

    Personal experiences with Mec-gar magazines?

Yes... I bought a couple of MecGar's a few years ago for my Ruger P95DC which is my "car gun". I couldn't be more pleased! The magazines are stored in my car stuffed to capacity at all times, through all kinds of temperature extremes, etc... They have always worked flawlessly when I go to...

Help with S&W Mod 36 .38 SPL info

Hi Lostbird, and welcome to the forum. Good folks are here. AEU prefix to serial # puts it probably manufactured in 1984. Numbers stamped in the yoke area, other than the model # & serial, are normally just assembly numbers that don't mean anything to anyone other than the S&W factory workers...

    Golden Sabre 357

I think shooting lots of the Golden Sabres would be just fine in your K frame mod 19. They are my carry round in my little .357 J-Frame mod 649. I don't think that they are anywhere near the "full house" 125gr. in causing wear to forcing cone, etc. It's the light weight bullet driven at very...

    S&W 642 or 638??

I have both 642 and 638. I personally favor the 638 by a slight margin. I know it's irrational, but I just feel more comfortable having a hammer available and single action capability if desired. I like the "humpback" look better too. However, my 642 for some reason actually seems to print...

    2007 .38 Special +P versus 1977 .38 Special +P

Attached is a S&W ammo specification sheet from some years back that someone had on a website recently. I believe I've read that S&W brand ammo was actually manufactured by Fiocchi. The specs on .38+p look more like a .357 magnum of today. No wonder that box of S&W ammo I had back then seemed...

    Ruger autos reliable?

My P-95 has functioned perfectly (not a single malfunction) for many range trips in the nearly 10 years I've had it. I wouldn't hesitate buying another P series Ruger. Rugers have got to be one of the best buys for the money. Mine is totally dependable.

    About ammo in your home

earplug and larryw have it right... My understanding is that cooking ammo by itself in a fire is not particularly spectacular or a problem. Hatcher did extensive studies which are published on this very subject.

    Ruger P95 vs. Taurus 24/7

Can't speak about the Taurus, but I've had a Ruger P95DC for several years. It's probably one of the best values for the $ I've found in a 9mm. I've put about 500 rounds through it without a single hiccup. I trust it.

    Rattle in new 638

Sounds like an internal part called the "hammer block". This rattle is perfectly normal with S&W revolvers, and does not indicate any problem. Some just rattle more noticably than others. Congratulations on your new S&W 638. It's a fine revolver.

    S&W valuation request

According to The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson (Supica & Nahas), your serial number dates to somewhere around 1982. A call to the factory can result in a more exact date for your particular model 36. Prices can vary quite a bit, but around here model 36s in very good to excellent...

    I can't believe I bought a Jennings...

I bought a Bryco .380 back when I was much younger and went to a gunshow with only $75 in my pocket. I'm waiting for one of those gun buy-back things the government sometimes does. I might even make a profit. BTW... I was impressed that the Bryco went through a couple of magazines without a...

    Excercise Magazines?

A Police Officer (SWAT team) buddy of mine said to rotate semi-auto magazines on a regular basis. He says they need "excercise" to keep the springs in good order and working properly. For years I've regularly changed magazines in my carry pistols in order to follow his (what I thought good)...
