    practicality?

My 2 cents.......if you are sure you can keep your enemy further away than say 50 or 100yards, the bolt gun would do fine. The problem is if you cannot keep them from closing with you. The closer you get to them the more important your rate of fire becomes. Full auto would be desireable...

    Kel-Tec Su-16CA

I did not get su-16 cause you can't change out the barrel without wrecking the receiver, or that is what I understood. 10 to 15 k rounds and the rifle is shot.

    Mini 14 help

The Eagle and Ramline plastic mags will break in time. PMI and Promag are two good choices in mags.

    Mini 14 help

Cryo job will solve the heat wrecking accuracy. The brake will maybe help barrel whip, did not with mine. I am waiting for kkina's accu-strut to take the whip out.

    SKS Cowboy Campanion

I had one of those little cuties, sold it tho. It used to doubletap occasionally, was a prob with gas piston not being modified to go with short barrel. Put a rubber o-ring on end of piston to get more pressure on piston and cured it. They are fun. :)

Mini-30 or AK47 with Wolf ammo

I have a Mini-30 and like it, have good hi-cap mags too. However, I will still say the AK is a better choice for SHTF, unless you can't stand it for some reason and like the ergos of the Mini better. I would stay with the better makes of AK such as AK-USA and stay away from the SAR stuff...

Looking for a reliable SHTF rifle, have no clue what to look for

The Mini-30 is fine, but good hi-cap mags are rare. Promag is supposed to be making some soon tho. My 30 shoots Barnaul into 1.5 inch groups at 50 yards, have not tried the Portuguese I just got. About the Mini not holding up to extended firing well, that's a load of crap. You have to send...

Jungle Carbine For A SHTF weapon?

I was considering getting a Gibbs carbine some years ago. The one thing that turned me off, was the lack of of a good setup to mount a scope. About it's use in a defence situation with several attackers, that could go either way. If you have a bolt gun, you would tend to seek cover faster...

Looking for LED light with similar performance to 3D maglight

I have the Streamlight Propoly Luxeon 4AA. It uses a 1 watt led and 4 AA alkaline batteries. $30 It has a FLAT 3.5 hour runtime with bright light and then a few with dim light. Distance of light throw is 54 Lux, or maybe 200 feet? Tight spot in center, but a good amouint of light around...

    Taiga 2U red-dot scope?

I have seen this scope listed on internet and it is a 1x red-dot scope with 2.4x adaptor. It only costs about $150. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with this scope. It is Russian made.

    Ruger Mini-14s/30s

Yea, stringing due to heat will affect the Mini. Cryo job cured that. I have owned AR and Mini, and really prefer the Mini, but it is widely held that the AR will withstand more abuse and it is certainly more accurate new from box. Try em first then decide. Gonna bed the Mini with steel...
