I once wasted a box of expensive personal protection ammo by grabbing the wrong box and shooting them all at the range. I did not notice until I wanted to reload the mags the next day.
I carry an USP Compact .45 and also have an old .38 revolver. The recoil on the PM40 would a concern to me also. I wouldn't shoot it at the range that much, but it would make sense to get something so uncomfortable that I would not train with it.
I have three options that are being weighed.
1. Trade my Sig P229 .40 for a Kahr PM9.
2. Buy a Kahr PM40 and keep the P229. (Shared ammo)
3. Buy a Kahr PM9 and keep the P229
I current don't have any 9mm's, so I am tempted to drop .40S&W and stick to 9mm & .45ACP. Any ideas?
I think they are worth their high prices. I once held a USP Compact .45 and ended up buying one because it fit so well in my hand. And when I finally made it to the range, it was almost immediately more accurate than my SIG P229 (which is a great gun itself).
This is all so strange to me. When I want to buy a handgun, I go to my local police station during lunch (In Michigan), and request a permit. After work, I go to the store and buy what I want. And when my CCW licence arrives, I won't even need a permit.
