I loaded some back then using the 300 gr jacketed bullet that were designed for the LAR GRIZZLY 45 Win Mag. Had very good result from a full size gov't model. Around 800- 900 fps but, can't remember :banghead:
This is why I was asking.
The loads were in the #9,10 or 11 (had a green cover).
Kurt S. the only one that would be pulling your leg would be the hogs if you spill too much of the jello on them :neener:
Yes it really does work, the diesel trick just like the jello
I've seen the damage to a pile of brush and cactus done after the hogs where trying to get to...
If you do have to run from the bear run downhill :what: their short front legs will fold up and they tumble right past you then you run uphill until they justabout catch you, then run back down hill:D
Bears can run faster going uphill because their legs will pull them uphill;)
Diesel or strawberry JELLO does wonders for bringing in the hogs :what:
If you have a pile of brush you need cleared mix some used oil, diesel with about 50#s of corn (let this set out in the sun in a SEALED CONTAINER don't open :barf: :barf: until ready to used. Then throw in over and into...
M16 where in S. Texas is your place my frezzer is getting empty:D
It does look like you need a little help there :what:
If you can't find the hogs during the day and it hasn't rained try the little spots that hold water that has some nearby brush, the thicker the better.
Lets see if I remember right :banghead: the Speer #9 or 12 had a load for a 300gr 45 acp that did 700 or 800fps and you wouldn't need a $2K gun to due it with:D
In all fairness maybe a Colt Mk III or a Baby egale:o
Of those that I know and have worked with it was about 60/40:eek: not into guns got into it for the money:uhoh:
They do know what is issused and the type of ammo, the 40%ers well the like the 1911s and shoot quite abit and reload to help with the cost.:)
Last BIG ONE I saw was a 600+ pounder taken in Zavala county last year over 6' from nose to tail:neener: It was shot with a 7mm mag.
Some of the others have been taken with a 22-250 and up just depends on how much recoil you can handle and not FLINCH:what:
You'll find all sizes of HAWGS...
I can't agree with the other post more :D Get rid of the scent gland first and don't touch it anymore and you shouldn't have many or any other problems.
The cooking is the hardest part use a vinegar and water mixture to clean them up good and that should help take care of the taste. It's...
Hog are plentiful here in Texas and running into one with your car or truck is not unheard of  but if you get out to check the damage and its still alive and mad  ...
I want the 10mm in my hand :D You don't have to live in the country, since people are building so much they have...
My first thoughts when I read the topic was DE 10mm, but if I can only have one it has to handle all animals :fire: LAR GRIZZLY 50 A.E.
All critters in Texas either bite or cut :what: so you need to take them out.:D
Texas hawgs can be tough and mean:cuss: LJ if you do use the 200 grainers as a first choice followed by the 180 grains unless you have some magsafe ammo or try the rbcd ammo.
My first was a Whitworth Express in 375 :banghead: now if I had to do it over I'ld buy one of the Savages :uhoh: you can switch barrels to have a different caliber:cool:
