Differences in SA and FA for Ak-47's?

To be honest, I wouldn't mind the tax stamp so much if we could just get rid of the Hughes Amendment. Taking away the '86 ban would allow prices to normalize (which would probably piss off a lot of people who have invested significant amounts of money in transferable machine guns) as market...

Bought a KelTec RFB...what to expect in accuracy?

I had a chance to shoot some Israeli surplus 9mm about a year and a half ago. While I was firing, one of the spent cases flew back and tagged me. I can imagine that the RFB would be much easier on both the shooter and those in the general vicinity.

what firearm have your parents/grandparents passed down to you

Absolutely nothing, unfortunately. My two cousins and I are the only people in my immediate family that are into guns. I do hope to eventually build a collection of my own, and start a trend like I've seen here so far.

    Dragunov Tigr questions

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I may be barking up the wrong tree, but nothing will get done unless somebody does something about it. The problem is, I'm only one person. Considering that it's been so long since these rifles have been imported, I feel fairly confident in saying that...

    Dragunov Tigr Importation Petition

I was hoping that this would get more attention, especially now that the ATF is sticking its collective nose where it isn't wanted with their proposed shotgun ban.

    Dragunov Tigr questions

For those who don't know, the Tigr is the civilianized version of the Dragunov SVD. It's made in the same factory, and is an entirely different platform than the AK - unlike most of the copies on the U.S. market today. I started a petition a while back to try and get them imported again, but...

    5.45x39 accuracy is terrible.

My advice is to get an Arsenal SGL 31. You may pay a bit more, but it's a russian rifle, converted in the U.S. by working carefully with Izhmash. It's as close to a mil-spec AK-74 as you can get without joining the russian army. I plan on buying this as my first rifle.

    Dragunov Tigr Importation Petition

I may be barking up the wrong tree in this situation, but I'm hoping that if I can light a big enough fire under someone's a** then something might hopefully get done. Doubtful, but at least we can possibly get people in the government thinking about it.

A gun shop episode that left a bad taste in my mouth...

Even if it wasn't me being yelled at, I would've marched right up to the counter and told him that he'd just lost my business. Asking to see the rifle was not the same as offering to buy it.

    Dragunov Tigr Importation Petition

The Tigr rifle, made by Izhmash, is a civilianized sporting variation of the Dragunov SVD sniper rifle used by the Russian military. It was originally imported into the United States by B West, but due to anti-gun paranoia it was banned in the early 90's. In all honesty, the Tigr is not any...

    Bought a FNAR.. range report/review

It says on the FNH USA site that the FNAR is "descended from the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR)." Since John M. Browning contracted a lot of his designs to FN, this leads me to believe that the FNAR is, in fact, based on the original BAR; though I have little to base this on but conjecture.

    Where are all the M1A's?

James River Armory recently started selling new production mil-spec M14 style rifles. It's made using original TRW prints, and with the assistance of the TRW manager in charge of producing the original M14. It even comes with a dummy selector switch...

    Dragunov Tigr

Anyone can sign it, and the survey is meant to be printed out and mailed (the ATF doesn't accept email anyway). I'm hoping that a collective voice will be a bit more effective.

    Dragunov Tigr

Hey, I just started a petition on this same issue. Perhaps it will be a bit more effective than individual letters (and it saves on postage too). http://www.PetitionOnline.com/izhtgr12/petition.html

.30 cal CMP ammo: Wolf or Aguila?

I've wondered how the new Auto Ordinance M1 Carbines would take the steel ammo from Wolf.

    Australian International Arms M10 B1

And they're still not available in the U.S. yet. Maybe sometime in 2010, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. As for price, I could reasonably understand $600-700 (not that I could necessarily afford it), which would make it comparable to some of the like-new No 4 Mk 2's that I've seen. If the...

bargain hunting for riot guns...any websites you recommend?

Maybe a properly converted Saiga 12 would do the trick. AK configuration and reliability, but redesigned as a shotgun. Here's a pretty good source: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storecategory95.aspx

If I ever need to clear a trench...

It's important to note that while the Thompson was designed as a "Trench Broom," it wasn't finished until after the first world war. It first appeared in the 1920's.

    Armalite M15A2 Service Model, Questions?

Considering how dated this thread is now, I hope that you've enjoyed your rifle. If I had the money, I'd probably get one myself. Remember, AR stands for Armalite Rifle!
