    Surplus CCW Handguns

sprice, If you want something thin for CC then I would recommend the P64, especially if you have a C&R license (since it can be shipped directly to you). The P64 is much slimmer than the CZ82 (though still heavy for its size). It's accurate, reliable, small and has a good following/source of...

Trust your life to a conversion barrel???

silversport, Just some anecdotal evidence for you. I have a glock 23 in which I use the lone wolf conversion barrel and original glock 19 mags (everything else is stock). It's my favorite gun and participates almost every range trip. I've probably put 3-4k rounds of 9mm with exactly one...

    Consistently shooting 1.5" right

kludge has given you some great advice. Definitely read up on "milking the grip" (basically the first paragraph of kludge's response) and try to mentally (and physically) disconnect your trigger finger from the rest of the fingers on your left had. Just the smallest amount of sympathetic...

Polish P-64 and Silverbear JHPs (do they jive)

They jibe just fine in my experience. Probably about 100 rounds through mine with zero problems. I would second (third?) the recommendation for doing the hammer spring replacement to soften up the double action (18lb in mine). I also replaced the recoil spring with a stouter one which required...

Rifle Trifle : or How I ran out of ammo and need help picking a cheaper rifle/caliber

Don't know if you're still deciding, but you can't go wrong with the vz. 24 in 8mm. Not as cheap as 22LR but sounds like you really would prefer something with a punch. Aim has them for $210. Ammo is relatively cheap as well. http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=119

    Cleaning a Mil Surp Stock

tkcomer, you might want to check out this site: http://parallaxscurioandrelicfirearmsforums.yuku.com/forums/101/t/C-R-stock-cleaning.html Tons of good info on all aspects of milsurp stock cleaning. Hopefully, you'll find what you need there.

    Brown Bear 9x19

I shot about 100 rounds out of BHP the other day. Functioned fine and grouped fine. I was only shooting at about 25' though, not sure what you're looking for. Definitely fine out to there though. :)

    Glock conversion

Just make sure to get a conversion barrel (i.e. from Lone Wolf or one of the other conversion barrel makers) and not a stock glock 9mm barrel. The only other thing you need are the 9mm mags. I've shot thousands of rounds through mine this way without a hiccup.

Had my first Glock stovepipe; should I be worried?

If I were you, I would just spend some time making sure you're prepared to clear it as quickly as possible. This is assuming this is your self-defense weapon. There are plenty of good youtube videos demonstrating various procedures. If it's just a concern over the gun in particular, I would...

First 9mm for me and my wife

I'll throw in a vote for either a CZ or a Glock 19. I'm pretty sure you said you don't have a gun shop close, but it would be worthwhile to take even a moderately long drive to a decent gun shop to hold a few of these guns and see how they work out. Not the same as shooting, but I bet you could...

    FNP 9 or a Glock 19c

Any chance he can shoot them first? That would be the ideal test. The Glock, at least, should be available to rent at most places. I have the glock 23 (same frame as 9mm) and it felt "good" in my hand but absolutely perfect when I started shooting it. I have an FNP (in 45) as well and it feels...
