    Gander Mountain & Open Carry

Similar thing happened at our Cabella's. The sign used to just read that all firearms had to be checked, but was recently changed to very similar wording to indicate that the policy did not apply to CCW. It seemed to me that they were just clarifying an the prior existing policy, and very...

    NUTNFANCY gun reviews

Just as to the debate about his service history, he's definitely Air Force (and not to be nitpicky, but it's Air Force, not airforce or air force- c'mon guys, just because you served in the Army or Marine Corps doesn't mean your service is the only one that counts or warrants respect) and has...

Gun Control nut considers the "I Like Guns" music video "Irresponsible & violent"

Fair enough. All I meant is that there is certainly some ambiguity. Maybe he is trying to play both sides, or maybe he just fumbled the interview. I'm not necessarily rushing to his defense; if he does support the draconian laws there, then of course he doesn't speak for any of us. But on the...

Gun Control nut considers the "I Like Guns" music video "Irresponsible & violent"

I'm a pretty regular reader of the War on Guns blog, where the article about Lee came from. Well just recently, he responded to the blogger. He claims that his comments were taken out of context by the media (shocker, I know) and he said that keeping guns out of the hands of the mentally ill was...

    lock and load

"I imagine if you were a grunt you would rather have thousands of A 10 Warthogs than a hundred F22 Raptors." Not to hijack too badly, but as an A-10 crew chief (yes they are still operational) who loves that airframe dearly, it is an abysmal air-to-air platform. We may be fighting underequipped...

Do You Care If You're Printing While Under Normal CC

I'm from CT and the way I understand it, up here they'll hang you out to dry on disturbing the peace charges, so I'm pretty cautious.

    Official State Firearm?

"For which reason the nod would go to an historical Colt, not a modern one." Touche sir.

Your Thoughts - Retirement gift for Dad

I'd second the notion of a nice 1911- it seems to fit all your criteria very well: accurate, reliable, you can get one that's incredibly cosmetically appealing for your price range but still useful and most of all, everyone (especially old-school types) should have one in their collection!

    Official State Firearm?

That's a fun idea! I'm sure most of the suggestions will be heavily historical, for CT, I'd actually nominate the M-4 because 1) Colt is based here and 2) it would piss off most of our politicians who seem to have forgotten our heritage, just like most of the rest of New England.

What is the last gun that you bought?

Just picked up my new carry gun- finally jumped on the bandwagon with a G26!

My first time ever handling a gun

I think I speak for everyone when I say, welcome, both to the forum and (soon enough anyway) to the gun-owning community! I started out in your position not too long ago: I'm 23 now and from CT, a fairly gun-hostile state, family is by no means anti- but nobody really owned guns or shot, so I...

    Shades of gun bigotry

Here is my response, conveniently posted to their website via Kimber's link: I would like to express my disgust with Jim McCloskey's recent cartoon regarding Virginia's one gun a month law. His stereotypical portrayal of gun owners as ignorant slobs was not only incredibly offensive to...

    members and"guests"

Good Point That's an excellent point sir. I grew up shooting here and there, but have only gotten serious about guns, especially from the social and political standpoint, over the last year or so. In that time, I've gleaned a lot from the good folks here at THR, but kept pretty quiet- which I...

    So why the 223?

Hey, zoomie is just like grunt, jarhead or squid- a title you wear with pride. :) And I always feel more like I should be thanking ya'all for paying me to do what I dreamed of as a little kid!

    So why the 223?

Hello all- I've been reading THR regularly for quite some time, but this will be one of my first posts. I prefer to mostly sit back and soak up the wisdom of the good people here ;) As far as the above quote, it's certainly an old one and we'll never know exactly where it came from. But I am...
