    Bad gunsmithing- what's fair?

It doesn't sound like the 'smith is a professional at all. He wouldn't get the chance to touch the gun again given the condition he returned it in. I would let him know as much. Pay a real 'smith to fix the damage he did, and if there is any money left over after that bill, send it to the...

    Ruger Redhawk Triggers and actions

The trigger isn't the best when new, but that baby will smooth right up with 1000+ rounds through it.

    DIY - Freefloating barrel

It is that simple, but there are other things to consider. Some rifles shoot better with just a little pressure on the end of the foreend. This is somewhat common with thin barrels. Cheap synthetic stocks need more room than just a dollar bill, especially if it is a bull barrel. The...

    Scope hairs have moved??

The old Redfield went under, and sold out to Leupold. I don't know if that affects service or not. The new Redfields are supposed to be very nice, especially for the price. Leupold may hook you up with service, but you'd have to ask them. I have heard of even high end scopes losing their...

    38 special problem

Is your shell holder clean? It sounds like the cases might be sitting crooked and not lining up with the die. That is a simple fix, but it could happen. Your die isn't broken is it? The carbide ring could crack, or there could be something stuck in the die. Again, a simple fix.

9mm case prep - trimming questions

It sounds like they are below trim length. The needle is bottoming out before they get trimmed, so they don't need trimming. I am with the "never trim handgun brass" crowd also.

thinking of trading my g27 advice needed

$450 for the gun here. Nightsights are rated for a 12 year life generally, so they should be fine for a while yet. I'd try and keep the Glock and find a used .22. I know that isn't always possible. Maybe a used conversion kit for it or something else you have?

Stuck 30-06 cases in sizing die

It sounds like your expander is set too high or low. Too low would bend it, and too high would pinch the case between it and the shoulder of the die. Since you are experienced, I am guessing you know what you are doing. I have had no problem with Lee Dies for the 30.06 and fired brass.

    Precision Rifle Build

Look at the Savage Law Enforcement series. You can get an accurate rifle, excellent Accutrigger, and many styles of Accustock for pretty cheap compared to going custom.

    Guns & Ammo - .300 Whisper?

You can do what the .300 Whisper does with 7.62x39 or other calibers, if you handload. I haven't seen any sub-sonic 7.62x39 factory ammo though. The factory offering of ammo is the key to the story. I will agree though, the magazine is slipping.

Where are Gen 4 glocks made?

I believe Glock makes most or all of our new guns in Smyrna, Ga. They started with just the most popular ones there, but the plan was to make all of them there eventually.

    Can I shoot this in a S&W M&P9?

From what I can tell, 9mm Browning is another name for .380 ACP, so no. Look for 9mm Luger, Parabellum, or Nato.

How do you like your Glocks?

I have some stock and some slightly modified, so I voted middle of the road. HD and carry guns have night sights, lasers, and plugs. The rest are stock.

How is the length? Did you check that?

    .223 Rem resizing problem

That is a new one on me also. The resizing die should fix any problems that the chamber would cause, well, fix them enough to allow them to chamber anyways. I assume a visual inspection doesn't show anything. I'd run the calipers all over them and see what is amiss.

If Lee presses are junk, why are used ones so hard to find?

If you do upgrade, it isn't like you have $200 worth of value sitting there. Just let it sit incase you need it again. It isn't really worth the hassle of selling.

Pay more for private no paperwork sale?

I wouldn't pay more for no paperwork. If I can get the same gun new from a dealer for the same as used privately, I go new. I prefer used just because of the savings.

    Can I substitute

No problem at all. You can substitute the same weight if the bullet length and profile are similiar.
