Pics of your trigger/hammer/sear would help. Make sure the hammer and trigger pins are all the way in and that the "shepards hook" is properly retaining them.

A nice used CZ550 would be one of the most affordable options. An Interarms Mark X or Remington 798 would be a good option as well.

The Hogue lower handguard fits w/o modification.

On the cheap? Take off stock from receiver extension. Apply layer of duct tape on the top. Re-install stock. Should clean up most of that slop. Several companies make a cheek riser for the standard CAR type buttstock if you search a bit.

Ruger African comes in .223 Rem with a 1/9 twist barrel. I like mine so far.
