    7.62 x39 ar

It's a good round. If you dig it in an AR, then go for it. Del-ton has the stuff to convert an AR to 7.62x39, and they're a good company. http://www.del-ton.com/AR_15_Conversion_Kits_7_62X39_s/104.htm The upper is going to cost you somewhere in the range of what an AK would.

    Why the Bling?

Ah, to each his own. Some guys like fancy inlay like that, some don't.

what are th main knocks on Ruger P89 pistols?

They're built like bricks and they run like raped apes. Trigger is kinda "meh". But nothing at all "wrong" at all with them. I had a P90 for several years, never a bit of trouble. Traded it off on something else. I just find them sorta bland, I guess.

Best tactical and hunting rifle combo?

M-1: can't beat a 30-06 for a do-it-all cartridge. Just throw in a Schuster adjustable gas plug if you're going to shoot commercial loads. If not that, an AR with an extra upper in a large bore caliber; 6.8 or something like that.

    AR-15 and Mini-14 Accuracy comparison....

Either one will work just fine. Both have pros and cons. For the oft mentioned "social situation", "minute of man" is probably all you'll have time for. The AR is very accurate, but ask a Vietnam vet or a Afghan vet how many MOA his M-16 or M-4 shot, and he'll probably say he didn't know or care.

    OK, what would you buy?

The Savage Mk 2 rifles are fantastic bolt action .22's. If you're so inclined, they can be had in .17 HMR as well, and for under 3 bills. http://www.savagearms.com/markiif.htm

Working Guns for Homesteading/rural/off grid lifestyle?

Whatever you get, if you're really going to go off the grid as much as possible, make sure you can get spare parts and reloading gear for it. Suggestions? 1) Ruger .22 pistol. Probably the most game-getting gun you can get. Someone mentioned before, long shots are the exception. 2)...

shooting 9mm without ear pro? (hearing damage content)

Yup, whenever possible. Even in combat, I've seen shooters putting in yellow foamies when going on an operation. Seemed a little strange to me, so I asked one if that didn't impair his hearing, and he said when the shooting started you couldn't hear anything anyway.

Pistols that have all their individual "parts" availiable to buy?

CZ website lists a parts section, but it seems like it's never up. Older S&W's parts can be had through Numrich. I think you can get Beretta parts, too. Older Browning Hi-powers, I don't know if the newer ones will interchange that much.

    CZ75 or Beretta M9/92

CZ, hands down. The Beretta is a good gun, but the CZ is better. All steel, better feeling to the hand (almost like a BHP), trigger feels a lot better to me. I'd pick the standard 75B. Even full size, it's still trimmer than the 92 and conceals better.

+1. Why do you want to convert it? No flame intended, just curious.

ETA: Ah, my mistake. Didn't read the entire title.

    Dry firing 686

Dry firing in large amounts really isn't good for any gun. The cartridge primer acts as a cushion of sorts. A little bit usually won't hurt it. If you're going to do it a lot, get a snap cap.

    SGL21 vs. VZ58

It is. I've handled the SA-58's the Czech SF uses, and they are a little lighter than an AK. I voted VZ. There's more support for the AK, but I think the Czechs made the better rifle.

    looking for an Ak-47

Receiver has to be modified; the trigger is moved forward, among other things. I believe the mag well has to be modified for hi cap mags, too. This involves some welding and drilling, so is usually not recommended for the shade tree mechanics. If you want a more authentic look, the gas block...

    AR receivers

Not really. Unless you really need it to hold some resale value, but then you'd want a factory gun anyway. These days they're pretty much the same, some are a little better for fit and finish, but for the most part they all work. There are some questionable quality and some you should...

    First Semi-Auto Rifle/Carbine Purchase - Need Help

You might do better to define "reasonably priced". Of the choices you listed, I'd say you are looking for an AK of some kind, but you probably couldn't go wrong with any of them. Someone mentioned a WASR, and if you can get one for $350 (I haven't seen one that low since the election), jump...
