    Value of an M1 Carbine?

"What defines a "Early Universal"? What do i look for when i come across one? thanks, __________________ Lefty TSGC" The early Universals look very much like the USGI carbines. The two later versions have a lot of stamped (not forged) parts, thanks to 'value analysis gone wrong'...

Colt Producing New Model 1903 Pistols

Pete, the 1903 will be a .32ACP chambering.

Guns and cartridges you expect will be extinct in 30 years

A few pistol cartridges will be out of production: .45 GAP and maybe .25 ACP and .32 ACP for autoloaders; ammunition for revolvers will not include the .327 or .44 Special, maybe the S&W .500 and the old .32 calibers. I think it's a safe bet that we'll not be able to buy the .30-06 and...

    bersa thunder 380

The Bersa's a good pistol, but IMO no match for the Colt or Sig .380, but at considerably more money. I prefer the SAO trigger on those two - as in the 1911.

    Alternative dry tumbling media

Grainger's is a great source for "blast media", both walnut and corn cob, in 20-40 (and other) sizes. When I ordered it by phone, they were out, and had it shipped from the warehouse in a couple of days, and offered to deliver it; I declined, and picked it up. Grainger's is very nice to...

    Bug out pistol?

If you can find one, consider the HK 4, the first pistol made by HK. It has an alloy frame, and interchangeable barrels & mags for .22 RF, .25, .32 and .380. You'll have a better chance of finding ammunition for it if you run out. The HK 4 is a bit spendy, if you find a good one.

Any reason 357 brass is hard to find?

In answer to your question, .357 Magnum ammunition is not fired in volume by military or law enforcement agencies, nor by individuals; agencies and individuals who have weapons that are chambered for .357 normally load them with .38 special, and reserve the more powerful cartridge for "special...

    Stock modification

Keep the synthetic stock; it will be more stable than a wood stock. The Devcon products are tops! Call them & tell them what you're trying to do. When you have achieved the desired shape, truck bed liner will provide a durable and attractive finish - if you like black. ;)

Built a new bench. funny story, and advice on press placement needed

The Dillon primer cup is a potential problem. Remove & discard it, and install an adaptor & plastic tube that leads to a large container (I use a beer bottle). You'll find what you need an Uniquetech or the Brian Enos site. Your press location sounds good to me.

Getting older. Anything reloading/shooting related to look forward to?

Reflexes & strength have suffered with aging, and recovery from injury takes a lot longer. This has forced me to abandon motorcycle riding because the consequence of a crash could be devastating to one who lives alone, as I do. My visual acuity has declined, as others have said, but my...

Hill People Gear Kit Bag Alternative?

Am I the only one to notice that you're likely to 'sweep' yourself when drawing from these rigs? I don't think it's wise to violate the four rules of firearm safety; I want to live to a ripe old age.

Opinions Needed on Possible Rifle Purchase..1st Gen Universal M1 Carbine

I agree with garyhan. The first generation is good iron, with few problems. Later versions were badly degraded by 'value analysis', which has ruined many good designs. Buy the gun; shoot it often! reloading the .30 carbine round is easy - but pay attention to OAL & charge weight; no hot...

    Sig 238...what should I know?

The P238 doesn't have a slide lock. The manual safety prevents trigger movement, but the slide can be cycled with the safety engaged.
