How vital is it to get defense ammo?

I think, statistically, over the long haul, defensive ammo works better than FMJ. Will it work better in one unique situation that you might be involved in ? Maybe. Is it worth saving fifty bucks to find out ? No. I am by no means an expert or authority on this or any other subject, but FWIW...

Has anyone here ever won a gun in a raffle?

Yes Within the last couple years I won a Springfield Armory 1911. One of the higher end ones although I don't remember now what they called it. I never even opened the box. I sold it the next day for $500.

    "Life Expectancy" of 22 Handguns

If you ever wore out a .22 pistol; actually wore it out, you would be a very highly skilled shooter when it was over. Which is a good reason to TRY to wear out a .22 pistol. I am not going to even guess at round counts but I have always been a very avid .22 pistol shooter. Not into the hundreds...

    Why stretch the limits

I load rifle ammo for accuracy. I test the whole published spectrum for the ultimate load. If that happens to be a max load, it is what it is.

    Who has a Glock 44

I bought one at the beginning of March. I shot it every day for a couple months. I put 3-4 thousand rounds through it with no cleaning. I have no complaints, and like my other Glocks, I have no intention of modifying it.

    Mossberg 12g shockwave

And ? All the guns I own were bought as a "novelty". I have a full safe of "novelties". I am definitely not the guy that has to justify things like this to myself by making up some kind of "reason" why I need it. The reason is that I like it, I think it is cool, I think it will be fun and since...

    Mossberg 12g shockwave

I have wanted one of these for a few months now........well actually I want the Remington TAC 14. Not because I think that is a better gun, but just because I have a number of other Remington 870s so I wanted to keep things the same, just in a different configuration. Problem is that I have...

    Is your rifle 400yd ready?

"Will your 'go to' rifle do 400yds consistently? Are you sure? If so, what is it? How is it set up..?" Yes, but I am a cheater. I spend the whole summer shooting out to 1200 yards with one of my rifles. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor that I do that with as well as a couple others. I probably shoot at...

Non-Colt AR-15's- When did it all start? "Old timers" chime in.

My old SP-1 still is a good shooter. I took it to a Project Appleseed event a couple years ago, and shot a Rifleman score with it both with iron sights and using one of those old "Colt" scopes that attaches to the carry handle. I take it out like once a year and have fun with it. I normally...

Do you have regrets about buying a "display only" firearm?

I would re-line it, but I don't know who does this. I have actually asked around and tried to research it. A lot of Googling turned up mostly 10 year old forum posts where someone said something like: "I had Joe Blow re-line mine 20 years ago, I don't know if he is still in business or not"...

Non-Colt AR-15's- When did it all start? "Old timers" chime in.

The first AR I ever bought was around 1983 and it was a Colt SP-1. If there were clones at that time, I didn't know about them (long before the internet was widely available). So, if you didn't see it on your local gun store's rack, you probably didn't know about it. Most of the gun magazines...

Do you have regrets about buying a "display only" firearm?

Yes I traded for a Trapdoor Springfield. It looked to be in great shape. However, when I got home I couldn't see any rifling. I slugged the bore and there is very very very little rifling left. Making it, for me, a wall hanger. Yeah, I could fire it; but why ? I am only interested in shooting...

    Webley MARK VI 455

I occasionally run across some here and there. I have probably shot a few hundred rounds through mine over the years. And mine is a very good shooter. I have loaded for mine. I got some correct bullets.....I think from Old Western Scrounger. However at some point, I decided that for the guns...

I am very happy to hear Old Fluff is doing well. I have always enjoyed his posts.

    TAcSol Barrel

Yes. I have several Tactical Solutions 10/22 barrels as well as a TacSol Ruger Mk.II upper with a threaded barrel. Those 10/22 barrels are (in my opinion) the way to go with a 10/22 when you buy a suppressor. They are accurate, and very lightweight. FWIW: I have shot dozens of Rifleman...

    265gr For .300 Blackout

I have not loaded any of them without flaring. I have pulled a few of these bullets, but again, I had flared the cases when loading them. Using a Lyman M die.

Transporting firearms via car by yourself.

I work as a paramedic and have for over 30 years (not anywhere near where you are); In a paramedic level ambulance, there is a locked compartment where narcotics are kept. Where I work now, there is a pistol case to store CCW weapons in a case which is in a locked compartment. When you get out...

At what point is the line crossed between being an informed buyer, and overly demanding?

I sympathize with you. I detest haggling. When I sell something (because I hate haggling), I price the item at the lowest price that I would take for the item (naively thinking I might avoid haggling). Often the price is ridiculously low. If I saw several examples of the same thing for sale, I...
