M-1 Carbines or M-1 Garands, anyone? South Korea auctions guns to fund miltary

I hope these weapons come back to the US to fall into the hands of civilians who will treasure and honor them, and not to the black market to support insurgents worldwide.

    Nickel Plating a new 1911

Thanks RC. I had thought about the warranty. I asked the gunsmith and he said to break it in too. He mentioned that the nickel plating will add material, so better for it to wear on the steel now and not the plating later. Luckily, I just reloaded a couple hundred rounds of 45s.

    Nickel Plating a new 1911

I have a new 1911 on order and should get it this week. Its a Rock Island .45 and has a parkerized finish. I'd like to have it nickel plated. My question is should I break the gun in with a couple hundred round, then have it plated, OR should I take it from my FFL directly to the gunsmith for...

    .380 P+ Ammo

I just got back from the store where bought a box .380 ammo. I looked at the box and darn if it isn't +P. They're 85 grain JHP for self defense. I looked at the Ruger LCP manual and they say not to use +P ammo. I think lots of ammo designed for self defense if going to be +P. I'm not going...

    Ammo sale at Cabela's

You'd have to search every online site for 30-06. They sell out constantly. Looks like we all hit the Cabelas sale. I got 10 boxes of 9mm at 11.99/box, then had a $20 off coupon.

    So why the 223?

If you search around the internet, you'll find some interesting info on the 5.56mm round (.223). Somebody (DOD I think) compared 8 soldiers carrying M16s that could outpower 12 soldiers carrying M14s with 7.62mm (.308). The British were working on a round closer to a 7mm that they were...
