    [Question] Barrel Cooling Techniques

Jeez, can we get more complicated here. Just wrap paper towel around the barrel and wet it down with water once and a while. There's your full coverage, hydro-oxy gas heat displacer. I know now you will whine about rust. Well the barrel is warm so what moisture is on there will evaporate.

30-06 and 8mm Mauser as Sniping Rounds

Both work just fine. That's why they have been around forever. Sniping is just long range shooting at humans or equipment. Find a cartridge that will go as far as you plan on shooting and make sure it still has some punch behind it at that distance.

Targets in Range Bag - Prevent Wrinkling/Ripping

I use 8x11 regular paper and just draw a one inch circle or magic marker dots. I use a soft 3 ring binder so they are organized together without getting spread all over the place. Rolling like a map works too. Wrinkles and rips sholdn't matter anyway. Your just going to put holes in them.

Should firearm safety be taught in public schools?.....

It should. Everyone is part of the militia and all Americans should be trained.

Was the Rifleman one of your favorite shows?

I was hooked on Rifleman, Wanted Dead or Alive, Lone Ranger, The Rebel. I even have a Mare's Leg because of the TV show. Later in life I began to appreciate Have Gun Will Travel, now it is one of my top 3. Accurate or not, they all had good stories to tell and cool weapons.

    dream gun ideas

Rifles should be sold in a combo kit concept. Barrels with sleeved bores and chambers so that one could change calibers easily. Bolt face should be changeable also.

    Strangest attachments/modifications you've seen

A laser... On a rifle you need a scope to see it. On a self defense pistol you're only shooting out to 50 feet. Tracks back to you. Useful in combat for painting targets and communications. A flashlight.... Tracks back to you. A bayonet on a pistol.... Funny but useless. Glass...

    Boring Guns?

22's are boring because they are inexpensive and don't miss. All day and all night....hit, hit, hit. Just gotta know your drop at the ranges. What I need to do is start working on only holes in holes for a challenge. I should switch to 22's for SHTF and defense. Carry tons of ammo, hit...

    Ruger M77 Scope Fitting

Check Midway or Brownells....someone makes a weaver adapter that locks down on the Ruger integral base cuts. It adds about 3/8ths of an inch once you put a weaver/picatinney ring on.

Why the hate on the flying brass?

People no longer consider others when planning or performing their activities. I have fished rivers that have miles of open waterline but a family drives up 20 feet from me and starts throwing rocks in the water. I am doing load testing all by myself at the end of the bench line but some...

    Keeping Brass Shiny

As long as the brass is clean I don't care if it tarnishes a little after tumbling. It is what is inside that counts not the outside.

How would a mare's leg shoot?

I read and understand everyone's comments but one must understand why someone would love a mare's leg. Must be like a Harley; if you have to ask you won't understand. Yes it is impractical, not very accurate and seems like a novelty toy. So what. There are a lot of weapons out there that fit the...

What's so special about the Model 70?

The Winchester 70 was a great rifle in its day. In 1964 Winchester changed their manufacturing methods and quality started decreasing. The pre-64 model 70 or model 94 became covetted by shooters and collectors. Are they worth the extra money? Do they deserve the awe and worship? That is up...
