Wow.. just wow - went to a gun show yesterday

I'm glad that someone else has noticed these facts in spite of the media-liberal LIES to the contrary.. libs hate gun-shows because they ARE gun-shows, not because of any "loopholes" that do not in fact exist!

Wow.. just wow - went to a gun show yesterday

Ehhhh.... who needs a gun "show" these days? The best of the surplus has passed, and besides we have the internet! Since both internet and gun "show" firearm sales have to go thru a federal firearms licensee, nothing really gained by the in-person show. IMO, YMMV!

    What is your dream revolver?

Hmmm. my "dream gun" is always the one I don't have! OK I'd like but will never see much less own... A stainless Colt Python in .41 mag with 5.5" barrel and ivory grips! Yeah that's it! Being stainless I could actually take it anywhere on a daily carry basis without fretting about sweat rust...

    Bronze Swords

"What OTHER use has a spear"? Archaeological finds indicate the spear was used for a considerable time to hunt everything from smaller game on up to wooly mammoth, including bear and bison. And of course harpoon spears hunted seal, walrus, whale and you name it by primitive people. Neanderthals...

What is the most recent knife you bought?

A Cold Steel frontier bowie. Given a bone-handled Old Time folder. Next purchase, should there be one, either a Recon Scout or drop-forged Survivalist. Cold Steel says there will be a "new" Recon Scout this summer.. in the new A2 steel, supposedly. Otherwise I'll be looking for a used RS... The...

What is the most recent knife you bought?

Your Dad's blade there has some real potential! A bit of brass, a bit of grip, some leather... a good EDC!

What is the most recent knife you bought?

The MOST most recent is a Cold Steel 1917 Frontier bowie. Am partial to bowies and have a penchant for Cold Steel blades. Reckon I'll keep acquiring bowies until I find THE BOWIE... Dunno exactly what that is, but I'll probably know it when I see it! It will probably have a 14" blade, 1/4"...

Tell us - what knives on you RIGHT NOW!

RIght now? Well Im only partially dressed at the moment, so what I have on me is a small pocket-clip folder, and a Cold Steel 1917 Frontier bowie, which I only recently acquired....

Where do you get you blades for knife building?

There are a lot of places to pick up good knife blades, as others have mentioned here. Another avenue that I have used is to buy a good knife and re-rip it... Cold Steel knives with the kraton grips and KaBar with the leather or kraton grips are both decent basic blades that can be re-gripped...

    "Stainless" vs "Carbon" steel

The brand name of the knife in question is a Hanwei "Rock Creek" with a HWS-1K forged blade, with a hardness of 58 HRc – 60 HRc and has a sambar stag grip. It takes a very nice edge and seems to hold up well. I paid something close to $100 for it as I recall.

    "Stainless" vs "Carbon" steel

Word... Im following this one myself. I have experienced various knife steels over the years of my life. while I generally prefer high carbon steels, some of the modern stainless blades seem to have good reputations- including a not-cheap Chinese knife I own- one of my few stainless blades...

Is RIA the default for bang for the buck 1911s?

Many of the Springers are made in Brasil outright; others are put together rough-finished in Brasil and shipped to USA for final fitting and finish, enuff "value-added" work being done here to allow them to be labeled "Made In USA" altho the frames and many of the parts are made by Imbel...

Never know what you’re going to find

I have an FN49 Egyptian model that will only run reliably on the Romanian 8mm ammo for whatever reason. Nice rifle but hard to find the ammo it likes.. Yes it's supposed to be adjustable gas system but a good bit of monkeying and trial and error... oy!

Never know what you’re going to find

I have a bunch of that smelly Turk ammo too... It was manufactured when El Aw-rens was still alive. The only thing I shoot it in is a Turk Mauser-like rifle. Smokey, dirty, and some neck splits.

If you could build from scratch

YO, dittos on the .72cal/12ga rifled muzzleloader, I have lusted after same for quite a few years. I used to hang with a guy in Michigan who hunted with a custom 20 ga rifled muzzleloader flintlock IIRC it was a (.60-ish) caliber), he was into "Living History" and had seen an original that some...

What does the term, "Go to War Gun" or "Fighting Gun", mean to you

As in ww2 Philippines, or any other country so invaded and occupied... the list is endless over the millennia of human "civilisation"... Doubtful that I will "go to war" in the sense implied by the OP... but war may come to ME.. and if it should my prayer is that I have the strength, aptitude...
