    Any Thoughts on Kimber 1911s

After I left the service in the 1970's (45B2H) I built 1911's for a living, all sorts of 1911s target and combat, alloy and steel, nearly all 45acp or 38super. I have fired dozens of different mfg of 1911s. With the execption of Limp Wristing you have to work very hard to make a 1911...

Can't drift the sight on my Mosin Nagant 91/30

the sight may have been staked or swaged into place by a drunk russian! You may have to use a moto-tool to get it free. I have used PJ penetrating catalyst and had the sight literaly fall out of the dove tail grove, try that first!

What to do with a Mini-14?

I would sell it and buy a new Mini-14 Tactical with the black Sporter stock for under $700, they shoot as good as an AR-15 and don't jam. If you want to keep the old Mini-14 have the barrel cut at 16.25" and recrown, buy a SOCOM Barrel Strut for $80 and it will shot a 2.5" group with junk ammo.

    My Fathers Day Present

roc1 Look at the bolt face for signs of brass and dirt. I have a 1950s M-99 308win. In cowboy country they sell for over $550. The 300 Savage has the same balistics as the 308 and you can find them in the old take-down model.

Bad day at the range. . . .

I built my own range, it can be your's too if you can find it. An old Zen Master once said "If your doing 'it' and 'it' ain't fun, then why are you doing 'it'? When I am shooting, I am training. I will introduce bad mags, bad ammo, even a bad gun, just to make the training a learning...

AR-15 .223 conversion to .22 plinker, what's good to use?

22LR is the way to go. Even if they get gooey on the range you can clean on site using citrus based cleaner and a can of compresed air. I shoot all sorts of nasty cheap 22LR ammo, I carry a can of 3-1 oil in a pocket and when the gun starts to stick I just shoot some oil in the action and do a...

    How Many Rounds Till Failure

If you are asking; "How long a GI 1911 will load, fire, extract, eject, reload and fire again, without cleaning, with US GI ammo?" I would answer well over 1000 rounds. The 1911 is the AK of handguns. Without relubrication it will be very worn, but it will function

America's Possible Future and a Tactic of Response

Last night I watched a 2 hour Documentary calle "Shoot To Kill". The story is not about our lawless border but about South Africa. Rather than becoming a workers paradise S.A. has tumbled into chaos. Citys experience 6-7 rapes a day, 5-6 murders a day, everyday, across all levels of society...

    Steel Ammo Sticking in AR-15

It's carbon build-up a often noted reult of shooting steel cased ammo, all you have to do is look at the fired cases to see that the carbon is flowing into the chamber.

    Informal Benchrest shooting issues.

Let me know when your paper targets start to move, and grasp RPKs or RPGs and before you say how important the skills learned on the 50 ft range are,,, NO don't say that. DO NOT SAY THAT

    Informal Benchrest shooting issues.

Fights YOU? It's a freaking machine. Switch back to a machine that does not 'fight you'. And yes, I am a proffesional consultant; that will be $5,000.00 TYVM BTW I open in Vegas next July

    Experiences with Ruger 1022?

OMG!!!!!!!!!!! does no one here hate the 10-22? AKKKKKK! It's like an invasion of the POD People! I've only owned two 10-22's in the past 36 years and am not quite the fan that I see here! True I bougt my used 10-22 for $100, 22 years ago and have shot sand rats at 135 yards with a near...

To all my faithful brohiems; Belive me when I say that when it comes time to USE your CCW You will neither feel or hear the gun being fired!

    M1 Carbine GI muzzle brake

The first and only break I know of is the cone break issued with the IR night vision optic (huge battery pack). The reason they used the M-1/2 carbine is that the IR light source was extremly limited and the M-1 Carbine round was in that balistic zone. Plus there might have been muzzel flash...

    .300 VS .338 Winchester Magnums

yes; I doubt you could afford to buy a box of 338 so a 300 is your fall back. The 338 is no world beater, and since you are unsure of what you'll be shooting your hypothetical rifle at: might as well go on the cheap. OH and BTW all that advertising crap about the Sub-MOA is dependant on the...

    Taking Back The Infantry Half-km: Britain’s L129A1

I was NEVER a fan of 5.56 ESPECIALY in 1970, but in 1970 I had m-60s, hand grenades and Claymores and 60mm motars and 81mm motars and even 120mm mortars. I am here to tell you a 120mm Mortar can kick some serious ass. Behind all that was most of the US Military. What was the question again?

Would the Army or Police buy Model 12's today?

I'd opt for the old M-37 Ithica (also by Browning) ambidexterious, milled receiver. A mil spec option could be sloppy tolerances so sand does not foul it up

    Corrosive ammo

Turn in your gear as you repo-depot(ed) and get new issue, along with de-lousing and a shave. The guaging system was instiuted b the Ord Corps for equipment destined to be engaged in combat outside the CONUS. The basic test messure was for equipment to "Last" 90 days in combat before...
