Just a reminder to why we reload.

25 years ago or so I loaded a little over 1,000 .38 cases- single stage no less! Not counting the cost of the cases- most of which I picked up at the range- I was at 3.2 cents a round. Compared to what that would have cost me to buy loaded USA 130 grain ball, the savings paid for my press. I...

Where do you send your brass to be sized/trimmed and how much?

A friend of mine sent a few K pieces of .223 brass and payment ($70, maybe) to a fella in Kali never to see either again. I look at it as the cost of his laziness. I don't know who it was he sent his brass and money to.

best .30-06 bullets for elk hunting for the money?

It isn't a popularity contest and the elk isn't gonna know what you whacked it with. 150 Gr. .270 or 165 or 180 Gr. .30 cal. The two I have whacked were with a .348 bullet I cast at about 1800 FPS and the other was with a 165 Gr. Sierra at about 2900 FPS. Both were DRT.

3.5 grains of Clays is my favorite.

44 mag hot load with 429421 and 2400

18 Gr. of 2400 with that bullet is perfect for me. The end result on game or target is the same whether you use more 2400 or not.

Midway is having a blemished bullet sale

When I opened up a few different boxes, some boxes looked great, some looked a little splotchy. All looked pretty good, though. I will find out sunday.

Do You Trust YOUR Electronic or Battery Powered Digital Powder Scale~?

The only time I have had a problem with electronic scales is when the battery was weak then I got screwy weights. That was on an RCBS scale. Changed battery and problem was solved.

    44 Mag revolver loads

I let my guns tell me what they like but I always start with either 18 Gr. of 2400 or 22 to 23 grains of 296. I haven't been very good at predicting what kind of powder each gun likes! If I could do that I should play the lottery. Anyway, if you can't get a gun to shoot with either of those...

    New Believer

That is a good looking group for the conditions you were in. Nice and round tells me it is an optimized load.

    Softest shooting 45 ACP round/load ?

I use 2.9 grains of clays using a 12 lb. recoil spring. This load will not work with the standard 16 lb. spring.

Looks like I'm heading to NO... What should I take?

I would leave long guns out as you will have to leave them unattended while working. Keep the mindset that your vehicle will be broken into. Take something you can keep on you. I would take a good revolver as empties aren't left everywhere if you have to shoot on the run :o . I would also take...

    Devine Message NOT to Reload?

You need to brush out the case necks before sizing. I use a bore brush on an RCBS handle. Also, you can polish the inside of your dies using flitz to make them slicker. Lvl1trauma

    Chronograph Choice

Out of the Pact PC2, Oehler 35, and Beta, I like the PC2 best. Much more user friendly than the rest. The Oehler has a really cheezy skyscreen setup and the mounting brackets for them are easily broken (already gone thru one). That's why they sell replacements. It also isn't as user friendly to...

where do you get your brass

Brass Go to your closest indoor range. They will likely have a bunch of brass in the back that they have collected. Our local indoor range keeps it in 55 Gal drums. Offer them $50 or so for 1/2 of a 55 Gal drum. They will probably take it. That's what I did a little while back. You will have...

    Lets talk Chronographs

I have used the Pact PC2, Oehler 35, and the Chrony Beta that someone gave me for christmas. Of them all, I probably dislike the Oehler the most. Yea, yea, I know- all of the gun rags use them. Maybe they are supposed to do a better job measuring bullet velocity but I sure as heck haven't had a...

Thinking about casting my own, sources of lead?

Casting Taliv, That sounds right about the poundage. You gotta remember that a pound of lead ain't much volume. If you are going to buy that many bullets from Widener's you must be picking them up since frieght is going to eat your lunch. If you live in NE, TN just give me a hollar and I will...

    Who shoots a 10 gauge?

I have a Browning BPS I got cheap at a closeout at Wallyworld about 6 or 7 years ago. All I got to say is 2 1/4 oz of number 5 shot in front of 44.0 grains of blue dot is hell on both crows and turkeys. It sort of reminds me of a football when you shoot a crow with it. They just start tumbling...
