    This one's for Dave McCracken

From now on I'm going to saw off every Western Field shotgun I find. My latest set me back a whole $131 and I just sold it for $200 Oh yes...I haven't forgotten that old thread you locked out a year ago :)

Any tricks for removing the mainspring? Just brute force to hold it in and slide it down? I just put the frame in a padded vise then squeeze the mainspring and slide it down.

Strawhat, Thanks for looking. I might just bite the bullet and order one from Cimarron. I know I can use it without the lever but asthetically I think it looks better with it on there. I'm going to wait a few more days to see if anyone else here has one kicking around that they would sell...

Need loading lever latch Does anyone here have, or know of a source for the little spring latch for the loading lever on a Walker? I've tried Numrich, coltparts.com and dixie they don't have them. Cimarron lists them but they are 18.00 which ends up being over $25.00 shipped. Seems a little...

Strawhat, I cut it to 5 1/2 inches. I peened in the silver coin front sight which was already a super tight fit. I'm hoping it doesn't come out. But if it does I have more silver coins I can use and I will just solder it in next time.

"Does the loading lever stay put when you're shooting since it's been gnawed off to a stub or does it tend to migrate down?" Actually I haven't fired it yet. Also the little spring catch for the lever broke. I'm waiting to hear back from coltparts.com to see if they have a new one in stock I...

    The THR Walker Club

Okay, I had to change the name of the album it was in from "other sh*t" to "Other Stuff". Now it works and that offensive word that nobody could see anyway is now gone. Now all I have to do is repost every picture I ever used in that album in all my other forum threads. But at least the censors...

Okay, I'm pretty much finished my "short" barreled Walker project. I just need a new loading lever latch now. One of the members at coltforum sent me a bunch of silver coins and I installed one as a front sight. A friend of mine turned out a neat attachment I can slip over the end of the lever...

    Name This Revolver

Skinny 1950 does bring up a good question though. I wonder if there is ANY known photograph from the 1800s of a person holding a Walker? If so I would love to see it!

    Revolver beauty...Autos are UGLY

Redlegvzv, That is a 1903 Colt Pocket Hammer in .38 ACP. It was made in 1920.

    Revolver beauty...Autos are UGLY

If you are talking Glocks and Sigmas and the like...yes UGLY. There are ugly revolvers too though. Look at those polymer Rugers. They didn't even try to make them look attractive. But they are serviceable...strictly a tool. Like a Hyundai or a K-Car (remember those? :)) will get you from A-B...

    Name This Revolver

Is it just camera angle, or do the position of the hammer and the nipple recesses in the original photo suggest that the hammer is resting between the nipples? Did the Dragoons (of whichever model) have the safety pins, whatever they are properly called? That is exactly the case. That's why I...

PIcked up a first year Police Positive Special this weekend

Mac 2, Got it at Kittery Trading Post in Kittery Maine. They sometimes have really good deals on some of the older stuff. Dr. Rob, It won't be getting any +Ps. I shot 6 rounds of standard velocity Winchester FMJs out of it today. Just plinking but seems to shoot great. I sent to...

PIcked up a first year Police Positive Special this weekend

Picked this up for $275 OTD this weekend. What do you think? Serial number dates it to 1908.

    Name This Revolver

At first glance I thought 1st model Dragoon as the burriness of the pic made the stops look oval. But with the blown up pics my vote is for 2nd model. I just looked again...i think the pics are too blurry to be sure. If I squint my eyes on the blown up pic they look like ovals...:) What...

Thanks for the tip. A nice guy over at the coltforum is sending me a few mexican silver coins to experiment with.

Still a work in progress... I polished the blue off the cylinder as original Walkers had no blue on the cylinders. I think it looks pretty good this way. My next step is to get a front sight on it. Any suggestions? Some people have recommended using an old silver coin which I think might look...

Anyone have tips on artificial aging?

Also, remember, that brass framed Pietta from the '80s was a $50 gun at best to begin with. Nothing was lost.
