What are your favorite books on war and/or weapon related subject matter?

A few favorites of mine: Dear Mom: A Sniper's View of Vietnam--engaging, and follows the author from boot camp all the way to making some bad choices and ending up in Leavenworth. This book also outed Chuck Mawhinney as being the USMC sniper with the most CONFIRMED kills at 103, and overall...

Long time lurker, short time poster. Mainly interested in practical rifles (22's and hunting rifles), shotguns and semi auto pistols. I've already learned a lot through y'alls combined knowlege, and am always looking to learn more. Mainly a varmint hunter, but I try my luck at Whitetails during...

    NRA decals

Have a NRA decal on my rear window of my truck, and a Ruger sticker on the window, drivers side, of the X-cab on my pickup. Never had a lick of trouble, and had a lot of compliments and a lot of good discussion with officers over it. Also have gotten off with a warning once because of the NRA...

So my sister wants to hunt...

Folks, Ohio is a shotgun only deer state, so we're back to scattergun being the only choice for deer. I'd say something like a 20 gauge Mossberg 500 combo would do her just fine. If we're moving to two guns, she could also get a .22lr like a Marlin 60 or a Ruger 10/22.

Next best Snubbie.. and not a 642 or 442

Love my little Ruger SP-101 in .357...perfect little snubbie to carry with you and still built like a tank.

The first time I fired a gun...

The first gun I ever shot was a Marlin takedown backpack gun in .22 short--Grandpa traded a hunting dog for it sometime in the 40's, and gave it to all the grandkids to learn on. Great little gun, and good for close in varmints and pests. I was probably 6 or 7 when I started shooting holes in...

Ohio judge tells citizens to carry guns

As a resident of one of those counties that has suspended sheriff's road patrol, I can tell you, people are worried. Our local sheriff's office just released 45 criminals from the jail because they can't pay for enough guards there, and the sheriff's department has made the statement, "If you're...

    Low priced handguns

Ruger P95, best value in guns under $300 right now. You can get a blued one around $250-$275, and a stainless runs right at $300. Full size 9mm built by a reputable company. Easy takedown, easy to use, and a nice piece to start with.

Maverick 88 or NEF Pardner Protector?

I keep a Pardner Pump Protector as my bedside gun, and it's a great multipurpose shotgun--even let a buddy shoot clays with it once (Informally, of course) Looks can be a bit decieving...looks like an 870, built like a tank. I've never regretted mine, but it is HEAVY and yes Dale, the barrels do...

    Check out these slugs

They're based out of Greece, judging by the flag and the Thessaloniki address. Looks pretty interesting, but the utility of it comes into question. Seems like a bit of overkill, plus they aren't full shells, but are made to be finished by handloaders--but I wonder what kind of performance you...
